Off topic here, but I thought it would be fun to remind everyone that we ruined SOS's 300th game by beating them at the G.
A sweet memory right up there with spoiling the Hird/Sheedy love in

(although slightly spoiled when that idiot Spudwanktious made the players form a guard of (dis)honour. What a complete imbecile that man is)

Still a chance our guard of honour for Fletcher's 400th will be stricken from the record.

Doesn't look happy.

He hasn't put a Giants' guernsey on yet, it's photoshopped, here's the original:

When you check GWS's players page he is listed as No 0 at this stage. Looking at the available numbers on their list the only decent ones left for Lids is 7, 11 and 33. I reckon he will take 33. Good luck Lids, sad to see you go.

I love Lids, all class, but not once in a lifetime. Richo, KB, Royce, Carey, Voss, they are once in a lifetime players, players that are indisputeably good and unstoppable. but only my opinion.

agree on not getting our sh!t together of course.

Sometimes the quiet ones whose skill comes easily and who don't court stardom look like lesser-lights. I reckon Joel Bowden was one of these. Often accused of being lazy or lacking passion. But that just wasn't his style. Lids was a supreme athlete AND a ripping footballer. He gave his very best to a club that often didn't deserve it. As much as I hate the way the AFL have contrived to create the Giants they are the best fit and his best chance to taste success in the short term.

Good deal all round. Well done Lids. You're a champ what ever colour you're wearing.

Yes Lids was a very good player but not in KB, Royce category who were seldom beaten. If you check his EF stats for disposals they were 24, 29, 17 so he was good, then very good then well held against North. I can still remember many games during his career where we needed him to fire but he couldn't handle the tag, especially against Geelong! Very good player for us and won us many games, just a pity he did not have the on-field support he needed often enough. Wish him all the best...except when we play GWS.

When a legend of the club leaves because he thinks he won't find success here, that is not a clear win.

That's actually a very sad loss.

The word "legend" should only ever be reserved for premiership players. Champion yes. Legend no.

Agree that it is a sad loss but club needs to be ruthless in search of the ultimate prize.

Clear win for all involved.

I think Richo transcended all to become a legend

Funny AT I thought the same thing and then one name came to mind Bobby Skilton

To mention Deledio in the same breath as Richo - or Skilton - beggars belief.

Richo remains an icon of the RFC.

In 5yrs time everyone will be saying "Deledi-who"??

Yep. That comes with time.

I must admit it seems like I just had a nightmare of Lids leaving us and then woke up. Bit hard to fathom this one, but I'll get used to it when next season starts.

I for one will not be that sad to see Lids go. Didn't regularly fire up for us in big games (finals) and was easily tagged out of the game. A fair weather player but a good one. Hope he gets what he wants but will always be a "Geoff Raines" for me.

Not sure about the finals comment, was one of our best against Port & Carlton.

I am certain people say on here say he didnt to try and get a reaction, that myth has been debunked multiple times already.

looking at geelong's outs and ins with trades and retirements; it's quite possible that they will go backwards rather than get better....so i doubt it would be end of first round....probably will be better than pick 15 which we would have gotten this year.....so in reality we got an extra end of 3rd rounder next year as points to use on naish in the bidding system

It'll be a top 10 pick next year 8-

GC's first rounder looks like being pushed back also, they will take Brad Scheer with pick 72 but the points deficit will be deducted from next year's first rounder. The higher they finish the greater the impact this will have on their final draft position.

A very good player, but to put him in "Legend" class is a bit of a stretch.

Nah, that's a crock. Some of the best players ever never won premierships. Some legends are legends because they didn't dump on their clubs looking for premierships at other clubs. Saying that I don't classify Deledio as a legend of the Tigers but definitely a champion.
