Gonna kill me seeing Brett run out in GWS colours, but it was a win for both parties. Hope he kills it next year, except against us.

It broke my heart seeing Raines, Cloke and Wood playing for the Scum and Bumbers in 83. It's why I hate both those clubs with a passion.

Luckily I have matured a bit since and happy to see Lids go.

Lids doesn't love the jumper its simple he wants to play in finals , if he loved the club he would have stayed ,he didn't go for the money as he is playing for less at GWS.
He might find it difficult to come back and socialize with the boys in a few years time l think...
There is more to him leaving than meets the eye also , hope it all comes out in due course..
A bit of an over reaction in my view. Mitchell and Lewis loved the guernsey also but got shipped. Not going to make zilch in 10 year future hawks reunions. Same for Lids

Lids is like HFC Jordan Lewis trade. looks like both players had loved the place, sacrifices throughout the years but when they got shopped around, got p!ssed off and left. Probably no indication what the club was thinking. No different to how Chocco was saying one minute they were telling him he was doing a great job, then sacking him.

Doesn't look happy.
Not surprised. Imagine the look on his face when he goes to sing the GWS song after their first win. It will read - WTF is this?

Good luck Lids. Unfortunately for you, you were drafted by a rabble club and 12 years later nothing has changed.

Unfortunately for Lids he is a 30 yr old with a history of soft tissue injuries. The club made a good, strong, smart decision that benefits the organisation now and into the future.

Yeah as I said good luck to him. It's the best for him that he's gone to a well run club as he might experience a finals win in his lifetime. 12 years without a finals win is a joke and a disgrace when you think about it.

this is the main diff to the Lewis trade. Lewis played in the odd finals win here and there.

when comparing to Mitchell, what if Lids plays for another four years? That would be frustrating. Will sound wrong when he retires and he goes around on a deck chair in the back of a ute on Grand Final day and the fat bloke with a deep voice says "2 time premiership player, Norm Smith medallist for the Greater Western Sydney Giants and former tiger in a team that really stunk up the joint - Brett Deledio"

Anyway, 12 years in a team that stunk up the joint is pretty loyal I reckon. Never heard him wanting out until this year. Our win/loss record with/without him over the last 4 years speaks for itself.

Awesome to have you with us while it lasted Brett. Hope after you retire you still consider yourself a tiger - most of us will.

What by recruiting a guy with known knee problems ? Chris Knights anyone ? Anyway well played Lids and enjoy your finals wins.

Lewis stayed possibly being underpaid for success, Lids stayed without success but being paid very well.

Lewis as good as he is isn't a shade on Lids IMO

We got a good deal so i am fine with him leaving and genuinely hope he gets his flag

Good post Mac.

Once in a lifetime player and we couldn't get our *smile* together. Lewis 4 times premiership player. Deledio 0 finals wins. lol. Run from this rabble run.

Amazing isn't it?
Lids no doubt one of the best players to have graced the Y&B jumper.
Lack of finals success won't see him remembered as such.

I love Lids, all class, but not once in a lifetime. Richo, KB, Royce, Carey, Voss, they are once in a lifetime players, players that are indisputeably good and unstoppable. but only my opinion.

agree on not getting our *smile* together of course.

Agree with this. Would've loved to have seen Richo man in more finals.

Pretty sure Lids was the last top 20 pick player from 2004 to stop playing for his first club. A worthy No. 1
