Oh well. A bit sad to see our number 1 pick go. I'm not too confident on these future picks....
Shame we couldn't have off loaded a couple more no 1s - sorry forgot about TV

It looks like a stock photo with a photoshop Jumper.

Wonder if his tenure at Tigerland became untenable because they had open discussions about stuff. Dimma might have got told a few home truths and kicked Lids out for not conforming.

All purely speculation, but I have been wondering how it got to be 'untenable' as the media have been putting it. :don't know

Thanks for your services Brett, been a super player for over 10 years

Glad we got something for him though, and ill be barracking for the tigers and anyone who plays Geelong.

I think Dimma needs some home truth tbh

No if Martin leaves we will have 4,5,6,7 picks ) Martin will require 2 draft picks .
Next year gives us a very strong position and direction the club wants to take .

Lids could well land us another 12 year player, this is testament to his value even as a 29 y/o with injury question marks. Lids deserves life membership as far as I'm concerned.

Lids doesn't love the jumper its simple he wants to play in finals , if he loved the club he would have stayed ,he didn't go for the money as he is playing for less at GWS.
He might find it difficult to come back and socialize with the boys in a few years time l think...
There is more to him leaving than meets the eye also , hope it all comes out in due course..

Ummm, we shopped him first.

As many others have said, absolute silk and will be tough to watch him play at GWS ...

One thing though, I can't ever recall lids really breaking a game open, or really dominating like the top echelon of players in the league have done ... buddy, dangerfield, fyfe, pendlebury, ablett, etc. I'd also have cotchin, martin and riewoldt ahead of lids on that score. We got a great deal and I suspect we topped up his salary for next year at least to make it easier for GWS to hand over the picks and make it an offer too difficult for Lids to refuse.

Ever. Interesting Kev... certainly a super quality player who would have held his own in any era.

I'm a young fella 22. There haven't been many all time greats in my time, but Lids is one.

dimma would not let any player break a game open is it the dimma way ,and that is why lids has gone

Lids is the youngest person to ever be awarded life membership at the RFC. He wasn't even 25 when he go the honor.

He broke open plenty of games, like, a lot. The problem is people look at the stats instead ot watching what he actually does. He wasn't that type of player to have huge disposal numbers. Deledio could tear a game apart with 20 disposals and a handful of marks, just pure silk.

Put it like this, had we been a top 4 team in every season he played, he would've been AA in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Severely underrated player, would love to see the players you named try and play all over the ground like he can week in week out.
