Will be interested to see if the team culture, if that's the right word, changes as a result of Lids leaving. I always thought that he wasn't a competitive beast and that perhaps he did not provide strong leadership apart from his feats on the field.

No doubt a champ who is highly skilled but to my mind he was not a leader that perhaps our group required but one hell of a player.

The big question is why ? Family settled here and on more money, what gives and it can't be the glory prospect.

He is a professional footballer nearing the end of his career. With one year left on his contract at season's end, his manager would have approached the club early in the year and asked for a two year extension. The club may have said, let's see how the season pans out, there is no rush, let's talk again in twelve months.

In Deledio's position, that means there are no guarantees beyond 2017, maybe it will be one year at a time from now on. Without long term security, the only thing he could do was explore his options. GWS was problably unpalatable at first, geographically, hence he explored the Geelong option. In the end, GWS had the three years. Geelong had Bubkus to trade, maybe they were only offering two years, who really knows? He may take a pay cut, but he would have done the same at Richmond. At 30 security matters. It is just business.

Jordan Lewis did the exact same thing. Three years gives security. If you have to leave your mates to get it, so be it. Business.

Because he choose GWS I will not boo him and really really hope they win the flag now.

Thank you Lids for your time, true legend behind Richo.

Kids are shattered though but explained to them how footy works.

Good luck Lids

Wonder what it will be like playing in front of two and a dog compared to the heaving throngs at the G.
Might be the same size next year

Oh well. A bit sad to see our number 1 pick go. I'm not too confident on these future picks....

Worst case scenario is Picks 17 & 18 next year..........this would mean we made the GF/or won it. That's not gonna happen so our these picks will be gold.

Geelong 12th pick 6
Richmond 14th pick 4

Martin leaves. We will have 4-5-6
