Thought Lids was our only player on the park who stuck to his own game, wasn't intimidated and didn't bow to the Cats pressure.
Classy performance. Well done Brett.

Yep is doing real well.

Lids had a beaut game agin the Hawks.

Highlight for mine (and there were plenty) was when he got first possession at a CB and as he was trying to move the ball to a nearby team-mate he had one arm pinned by a Hawk. So with his left hand he popped the ball onto his right boot and kicked it clean the three metres to his man. In a split second.

And was his goal shot ever going to miss?

The lad's inside game is going nuts.

A toff.

Too true Jack, his inside game has been fantastic in recent games.
a toff? a tuff toff?

putting his hand up for the captaincy...?

CAPTAIN written all over him. Kicks big goals at crucial times, stands up when the side is down and is developing a genuine toughness and aggression. Lids to lead us out of the wilderness.

Big Lids fan. Had a good season too. However, I thought his game yesterday was very poor where his defensive pressure was concerned.

2 or 3 times he refused to make a tackle on a Hawthorn player short stepping it a la Wayne Campbell and 2 or 3 times he refused to chase as well.

Lids had 5 tackles so he did his share.

Thats not the point. When you are required to run towards a bloke and make a tackle - but dont - it doesnt matter how many other tackles youve made. You cant just offset making a few against not bothering with others.

You're expected to make a tackle each and every time that you're in a position to.

Actually, I thought he was a bit soft on a couple of occasions also. From memory, there were a couple of bland attempts at winning a hard ball.

He is becoming an elite player with the ball in his hands, though.

Sure is.

Hurt his shoulder last week too, so good effort.

So Lids could make 5 tackles in the first 10 minutes, and that's enough for the day?

His consistency has been amazing.

Also was great to see he was so pumped after the game and enjoying the win.

Yep was particularly disappointed with that passage of play in the centre of the ground where he just didnt go hard enough at the ball and allowed Hawthorn to gather and clear. Commentators called it that he didn't go hard enough for the ball and it looked bad.

If he had won that ball we were on up field as well. Hopefully that was just a lapse.

Need to take some inspiration from Richo fierce desire to win the contested ball in a 2 on 1 in the last. That sort of stuff makes kids walk taller.

Richo should snare 3 Brownlow votes just for that last quarter effort.

some of you will never be happy,no matter what some players do you will never be happy. Just enjoy the win ,if you played any sort of footy you would know that split second decisions sometimes make you look bad, and has had nothing to do with desire to get the ball. Perhaps bowdo should have hit the target so lids could have taken the ball on the full. Even so I'll bet lids would like that over again.

At 21 he still has a couple of years before his stamina will peak, the guy runs all day but I think we'll still see a few of those efforts until he's got another couple of preseasons in him. Those sprints would take a lot out of him and he's still doing the in and under stuff too.
Just look at the break out year Cooney had this year, Lids will be at the same stage next year and he's had a pretty comparable year already. Look out 2009, year of the Deledio.

To be honest, I think Cooneys season is way over-rated and so is he as a footballer. Very lazy and gets all his kicks running around a kicker for a cheap handball recieve. I think Deledios way in front.
