Brett Deledio (merged)

Great effort by Lidsa yesterday. Hobbled around a bit at times. Was clearly troubled by it. Gutsy mark at the Punt Road end of the ground too.

That was another question mark I had about Deledio answered yesterday. Can he play good footy with niggles and injuries? The answer is yes. And another thing, how good is Deledio at the half voley pick up? Had about three yesterdya at pace. Very good below the knees. This is the break out year we all hoped for.

WT they arrived actually at 3.30am and at a guess they probably wouldnt have got to sleep until at least 5 or 6 am, thats a day wasted, long road trip WA and a short break to match could've slowed a few players down after half time.

on lids wat a great effort to even be out there, i heard on thursday that his knee was still quite sore, hence why he played more so in the fwd line with stints in the midfield, to get 3 goals and about 20 touches, great effort...

Here nor there AT but the report was the plane got in at 2 and TW would have got to bed at 3:30 (he lives out Kangaroo Ground way).

Agree Scoop.
Watching him against the Bombers had me thinking Lids is on his way to becoming a household name.
To battle on the way he did last week and then to back it up against the Dons answered any lingering questions about his heart.
Must be firming for the Captaincy IMO.

Being a bottom-ager I reckon there's a good chance he's got a bit of improvement left in him yet.

Me too. Can't wait either. If Cogs can somehow get it together for a season or two we'd have a real midfield for once.

It doesn't look like much but 5cm does seem to make a big difference, especially if the taller player can jump well.

When has Gerhig ever jumped? Last recorded time was in the under 8's long jump in Little Aths, and even then he barely got past the mat. This was also the last time he competed in Little Aths, as he was banned for 10 years for punching out the ref you said he went past the foul line.

Others qualities make a far bigger difference to the makings of a key position player leysy reckons duck.

Yeah you're right for sure Leysy. Pavlich being a very good case in point. Still though, all other aspects being equal you'd take the taller player every time hey?

Yeah, probably. No two players are identical though.

Leysy just chuckles when punters on here use a tape measure to show that a guys not up to being a key position player.

Every week I fall more in love with this kid.

He injury was really troubling him on Saturday, at one point in the 2nd after he took a mark he landed like a guy who is trying really hard to protect a very sore joint. Still in pain he kicked the shot for goal, then he took another mark and kicked another goal 5 minutes later. Stirring stuff.

If he's healthy I give him as shot for All Australian next year, he's that good.

Theres an article in the sun today about Deledio. He'll be spending more time at FF, his knee flares up after games and he'll need surgery at years end.

Hope it's not a risk to keep playing him with a dodgy knee if so rest him for bext year he's to valuable. The last thing we want is to have another Cogs case.

How's that one-handed pick up after the Richo handball in the last quarter ? Brilliant.
