Time to step up to the plate, wherever he is playing, and show the goods.

27 possies, 9 hard ball gets and champion data having him right up there as the best for our team. If thats not showing the goods i dont know what is.
Like i mentioned last night pendlebury for the pies has had 27 possessions in 2 games and no goals, dale thomas 30 possies in 2 games and 3 goals....Lids has had 40 possessions, 15 hard ball gets and 3 goals in 2 games. Puts things in perspective doesn't it when u look at it like that DHN.

Look, all players have some deficiencies in there game that they need to work on and if theres one area where i think lids can improve on is his tackling.

Yes i think that purple patch lids had yesterday really showed he is a class above most of the guys in our team, hopefully this if the emergence of Brett deledio as a gun midfielder for the Richmond football club. The club hasn't seen the likes of a player with his ability and class in a long time ( not since at least knights) but sadly its only been glimpses thus far. Hopefully this is the start of something HUGE

Re: Brett Deledio

the one negative was that lids copped a smack in the face at the bottom of the pack and went straight off the ground after it?

not sure if we was rested or took himself off?? if i noticed it so would all the other clubs...

Pretty hard to argue with career high stats...
Boy did I get up on the wrong side of bed today. ;D

Re: Brett Deledio

I called it his best outing in a tiger jumper.

But it all comes down to work rate. Not surprising that he has a career night for touches when he works as hard as I have ever seen him work.

Re: Brett Deledio

Lids should start and stay in the midfield.

Only when and if he is being soundly beaten or cannot break the tag should he be sent down to the forward line to mix it up.

Saw him come off, had a problem with his eye, went straight back on once it was fixed...Not much for other clubs to notice ::)

I think he needs to work on 22 rounds of purple patches.....for a player with so much hype he really now does need to step up to the plate and do this week after week....and not tease us with his promise. Lids has had a few years in the league now and should be doing this week after week and become a leader

Not sure if it was him, but one of the RFC guys copped a knock in the eye and had blurred vision for a short period.

Re: Brett Deledio

Problem is if you run through the midfield all day there isn't much help meaning that he cops a heavy tag week in week out. Apart from Foley we don't have any other damaging midfielders so he becomes a target week in week out.
I think Wallace has to be smart with how they utilize him

Agree.

Looked much stronger and determined than ever. Hope it's not a flash in the pan.

Totally agree.
I said it all season so far.....Lids is one of the very few players we have that can break the lines using his pace and usually has pretty good disposal efficiency as well.
He is the closest thing we have to Judd and the only time Judd was down in the forward line was when his knackers were knackered last season.

Seeing him getting cold in the goal-square next to Richo as we get slaughtered in the middle is a travesty and should only happen when we are resting Lids and/or his knackers and knackered. ;D

Hopefully now the coaching staff (if you can call this clowns that) take note and start playing our better players int heir best positions and build the rest of the team around them.

Re: Brett Deledio

I'm out of the country (so can't be sure), but didn't he cut his hair off during the week?
That would explain why he played so well!
All that product had been weighing him down.

Also, but perhaps less significant - something about being played near where the action is...
but it could just be me Wallet!?!

Re: Brett Deledio

Its been done to death and Im sure TW is right in a way an Lids will be a sucess as a forward but I think he is the only Superstar we could have an thats as a Mid

Re: Brett Deledio

One thing that irks me is when we have a lack of bigger harder bodies in the midfield we are playing a guy like Lids down forward. We saw on Sunday that when Foley is shut down we are totally ineffective out of the middle. Where was some hardened bodies that could apply a bit of physical pressure to Rawling to let him know that he presence was noted and would be monitored.

With Cogs still away off by the look of it we needs guys the size of Lids rotating through the midfield as guys like Foley, Tambling and co lack the physical presence to rough up a few shadows.

Tucky should exert more influence in the guts that he did last week. As someone said to me is Tucky struggling with the increasing pace of the game?

Re: Brett Deledio

This guy needs to play mid. He needs more time. he needs to gut bust and gut bust his opponent. If he wants to be elite he has to demand this from Terry to start there and also demand this from himself.

Get a haircut and show some mongrel.
