At half time I was thinking to myself that Deledio is a bitter disappointment.

He was terrible against Geelong last month, poor last week in a win, and invisible when today's game was on the line.

Even with 27 touches he didn't do that much with it - what happened to the fast 50m runs he used to do?

RUN Lids RUN!!

The thing is he can't do that from the forward line or at least he doesn't have the impetus. He did it once he was moved up the ground.

It really makes you realise that tanking for draft picks will NEVER win you premierships... er, sorry Carlton :hihi

so true

Junk time specialist today.
2nd ordinary game in a row..

disagree oldie, first half on the FWD line fair enough but lets face it the ball was more up the other end. When he was moved on ball thats when he played his best footy, running and hitting targets. It wasnt junk time it was him being on ball and near where the ball is thats where he racked up the majority of his 27possies albeit like most midfiielders do when they play on ball, that was as clear as day for me today.
The rest of our forwards were also quiet except for jay who snagged 3 goals.

Re: Brett Deledio

Get him in the midfield all day and tell him to deal with a tag. If you want to be a gun like Judd deal with it!!!

Re: Brett Deledio

Thought he was really good when played on the ball. Strong and won some clearances.

On ball or bust.

spot on mate, and at least it will give the opposition more of a headache because at the moment they will pretty much only tag foley.
they won`t worry about tuck and johnson.

and most teams only have one really good tagger anyway.
so if they shut foley down, lids can have a free run and vice versa.

lids showed today he can get 25+ possessions so let`s keep him there.

That's fine Astute to disagree but IMO Lids was an absolute passenger in the first half.
It's no good to simply say he should have been on the ball as an excuse. he had a job to do up front and he didn't deliver.
Not too long ago people were crying that Deledio was our next answer up forward because he kicked 5 goals against the pies, could work in the forward line with richo blah bblah..
Well in the last two weeks I have NOTHING from Lids that matches anything like the efforts he was putting in towards the end of last season.
*smile* protecting him, he like many needs a rocket. He is jogging at the moment and looking for the easy kicks.
Junktime possessions didn't fool me. he is not working anywhere near hard enough.
Not impressed at all and needs to lift.

Its time for this kid to be put to work and taken out of the cotton wool hes ben wrapt in.

The tigers so called future marquee star - should be put into the position to allow him to become a influential player in the engine room.

Playing this guy forward is making him softer instread of having him learn how to run off a tag and win the footy cos thats what this side needs him to do.

Get him in the Guts - and devlop blokes like Casserly and Connors who win hard footy and get rid of duds such as Hyde and Pettifer and Sanchez

I agree but they wont get rid of Sanchez because they gave up an early pick for him. Elma Fudd Miller will want to save face.

totally agree when put on ball he played well simple as that, some people base their thoughts on what they saw in the first half, i wont try and defend that first half from lids but hey most of our fowards had a bad day. The ball was up the other end more times than not and continuing bombing into our forward made me pull my bloody hair out.

Re: Brett Deledio

I just think starting in the forward line obviously doesn't inspire him, when he played well there last year it was at the end of the season but starting there this year cold just doesn't agree with him.

Re: Brett Deledio

Midfield for Lids, Morton to come in to finally relieve Brett of his forward line duties.

Doesn't seem like a bad option. Wherever Lids plays from now on, I just wanna see some work ethic from him.

Re: Brett Deledio

Watching Franklin and Roughead play and then Deledio and Tambling one can only shake their head in disbelief. This decision will haunt them for a decade.

Re: Brett Deledio

Lids has more class than both Franklin and Roughead. Wallace is simply not playing Lids in the middle of the ground which he should.

Imagation the superstar Lids would be if playing for Port or Hawthorn.

Here hear Laff.
The only thing of note that Deludio has done at the RFC is a dreadful shampoo add.
Its time he started to perform or he will end up with the Banik/Lounder memorial trophy!!!!!

mate roughie was playing 2nd's for a game or 2 last year..ive never really warmed to him as a footballer especially for a pic 2. But hey thats just my opinion not saying im right or wrong.

Now buddy on the other hand is playing great and looks the goods.

are u 2 married u seem to log in at the same time and post to each other.

Mate if u had 27 possies and hit the target 95% of the time would u think u had a decent game.

When moved on ball he took em on and made the play. And most of his possies werent waiting in the wings for the easy possession like petts, macmahon, hyde and bowden got today have a close look at the tape ul see that lids won his own ball around the packs.

Re: Brett Deledio

KPP's, Roughead + Buddy = 8 goals

Mid's, Deledio + Tambling = Need More Time

Obviously midfielders take much longer to develop than KPP's. We recruited fast running, skillful matchwinners, the modern game doesn't suit talls anymore.
