Brett Deledio (merged)

I've said this before but I think he should be the main deep forward with Brown and Richo as secondary targets.

The game has changed and the traditional KPP is changing. Franklin cant take a contested mark to save his life but he is tall quick and had flamboyant if erratic skills. Lids is quicker a better mark and a more reliable kick. Good instincts for goal and a better player when the ball hits the ground.

If we can get Lids and Brown and Richo one out enough times against their respective opponents we would have as good adeep forawrd line as anyone in teh league.

The trick is to get a midfield who can provide supply. the macmahon thing makes more sense now as it will allow Newman to push up onto the wing and hopefully Macmahon can also provide quick rebound from hb.

Buddy used to not be able to take a contested mark to save himself. That wasn't the case later this year though.

That would be if Richo could kick straight and Brown's kicking at goal was more consistent. Richo's kicking is woeful and really is depressing for the guys who work hard to try and get it right only to see him squander opportunities with his pathetic kicking at goal. Yeah I know we are watching from the boundary line and not playing the gam but with all his experience and undeniable talent you would think he would get it right.

The fwd line would function better without him and he wont be there when we do challenge in a Grand Final so leave him out of there!

Good to see you back on the boards Silence of the Lamb22.

Agree with much of what you say here re Lids.

Set up could be:

Riewoldt Richardson Petiffer

Brown Deledio Pattison

* Buddy's still not a great contested mark but he is getting better.

Brett Deledio should be given the spells in the midfield and played up forward. Looked remarkably solid overhead in a one out contest and times his leap to perfection, rarely runs under a ball. If he jumps he gets hands to it and it comes to ground or he takes it. You could rotate him and Richo between the half forward line to the full forward line.

The big thing for Brett Deledio in 2008 is learning to get involved in a match if he is being tagged. The really good players find ways to get involved through tackling, chasing or creating space for someone else. But mainly the get involved through out working the tag. Workrate is the only thing that beats tags and so far in his time Deledio has not shown that workrate. Ig he gets the workrate in his game he goods from being a good footballer to elite, that is the only thing holding him back.

Sadly he took more than 30 this year, unfortunately he is near the total package

I'm thinking if we get Cuz in the Pre-Season, and tomorrow we will know if we can, we will then have a pretty good midfield and Deledio (and Foley) won't be getting the opposition's best tagger.
Welcome to Brett's breakout year.

Blatant pushes in the back and then taking resultant chest marks dont count. Like they did with LLoyd umps will sort it out in due course.

Does that package come from Columbia?

Nah, Western Australia, and with the hammering we're taking from the press it might as well be the same thing ;D

Up and close with Cousins would help Lids.

Spot on. For all his problems no one has a better work rate and no one is a better gut runner and no one just runs taggers into the ground like Benny.

Does this mean Buddy has to go to Perth for his "Such is Life" tat? :hihi
