The bloke on the ABC was suggesting that Lids was soft for not going back on the ground. Was saying that Richmond have wrapped him in cotton wool for too long, and it was time he showed some leadership and played on through some pain.

I've never had a broken hand or thumb, but I'd reckon its pretty painful and not real helpful for playing football.

Whoever it was - you are an idiot.

Yeah that's crazy stuff.
I've broken my hand and it bloody hurts.
Looked like a sickening blow, hopefully it doesn't effect him long term.

Coming off the ground, you could see the fracture in his hand.Speaking from personal experience it wouldn't suprise me if he needs a couple of pin's inserted!

Broken hand out for 4 weeks.

McLure was the fool who blamed Richo for our first 3 losses early in the year. If it was him calling Lids soft perhaps a few emails to the ABC might be in order.

Nothing came of the incident between Lids and Grant.

Was not even mentioned in the Match Review Panels media release.

Didn't see it so cannot comment. Was it anything like the "kicking in danger" incident Krak was put up on at the start of the year?

Also Hodge no case to answer.

The kicking in Danger rule is another rule that has been allowed to degenerate over time. This is one rule they should worry about enforcing strictly to the letter of the law rather than worrying about a touch on the back. As we have seen people can get seriously hurt from a stray boot.

I expected the Grant incident to come to nothing but Hodge is damned lucky if you ask me.

Brilliant post Dad.

mclure, the poof who used to play for carlton.
the one who was built like a mallee bull and had the heart the size of a rice bubble?

what a disgraceful comment,it was clear something was broken and lids was in pain.
how have we wrapped him in cotton wool,he`s played senior football from day 1 when he was still a 17 year old.

carlton maggott.

that`s the second time lids has been kicked this season and nothing has happened to the kicker.
he was kicked in the shin earlier in the season which could easily have broken his leg.
i can`t remember what player did it but he was trying to trip lids, that dog didn`t cited either.
lids wasn`t so lucky this time, but he showed courage going in for the hard ball.

get well soon brett,we love ya mate.

Agree Taraba, thought Hodge was lucky to at least not have to explain his case.

Wasn't dissimilar. I think Grant should have received a penalty, if only because of the severe injury to Deledio. Players need to be accountable for the consequences of their actions if someone is hurt through reckless conduct.

I think he got kicked at Geelong last year as well.

Lids has had surgery today on the metacarpal in his index finger, had a plate inserted. I guess it wasn't his thumb.

Hope all goes well Brett.

I heard on the radio Brett will be out for 4-6 weeks.  That's almost a season ending injury.  Best wishes for a speedy and successful recovery Lids.

Ablessing it wasnt ghis thumb Jools, badly broken thumbs sometimes never heal properly.

If its gonna take Brett close to seasons end then leave him for 08 i reckon, would be a handy rest for his body.

Agree. It was reckless and has been costly for us.
Club should draw attention to it at the very least.

Glad Hodge got off the guy had him by the short & curlys deserved a whack!!

Anyone think it's time to bite the bullet next season as far as skipper goes was thinking maybe Simmonds, Bowden, Richo etc but I think maybe Deledio he is the type of guy who would lift being captain. I know he is still young but a lot of the great Captains were given the job early in their careers lets face it he is our gun player & it would be nice to have a 10 year captain!!

Lids needs to worry about learning how to shake a tag first before worrying about being captain IMHO. He will be great but still has much to learn. He is young and has plenty of time for the captaincy. I still think Joel would be the ideal leader. There was a good article in the fighting tiger on him recently. Has a lot of leadership qualities I reckon.
