Nothing came of the incident between Lids and Grant.

Was not even mentioned in the Match Review Panels media release.

Didn't see it so cannot comment. Was it anything like the "kicking in danger" incident Krak was put up on at the start of the year?

Also Hodge no case to answer.
I expected the Grant incident to come to nothing but Hodge is damned lucky if you ask me.

Glad Hodge got off the guy had him by the short & curlys deserved a whack!!

Anyone think it's time to bite the bullet next season as far as skipper goes was thinking maybe Simmonds, Bowden, Richo etc but I think maybe Deledio he is the type of guy who would lift being captain. I know he is still young but a lot of the great Captains were given the job early in their careers lets face it he is our gun player & it would be nice to have a 10 year captain!!

Lids needs to worry about learning how to shake a tag first before worrying about being captain IMHO. He will be great but still has much to learn. He is young and has plenty of time for the captaincy. I still think Joel would be the ideal leader. There was a good article in the fighting tiger on him recently. Has a lot of leadership qualities I reckon.

Would like a captain who can take a game by the scruff & win it on his own boot & I think Joel is a very good footballer but not sure if he can do that like say Judd, Carey, Hird, Buckley, Voss & even Barry Hall in their premiership year I think Lids has that capability & maybe being skipper would bring that desperation out sooner?

The kicking in Danger rule is another rule that has been allowed to degenerate over time. This is one rule they should worry about enforcing strictly to the letter of the law rather than worrying about a touch on the back. As we have seen people can get seriously hurt from a stray boot.
Kicking in danger used to be one of the worst things you could do on a footy field. Protect the man going for the ball and trying to pick it up with his hands.

Then tripping became the new kicking in danger that the AFL decided to pursue, then protecting the umpires, touching the back is a push in the back, etc

Just another example of how the rules are being used to push the flavour of the month and are drifting away from their original intent

If we were pushing for a finals spot and Lids got a broken hand that way without any report, there would be riots on Punt Road

mclure, the poof who used to play for carlton.
the one who was built like a mallee bull and had the heart the size of a rice bubble?

what a disgraceful comment,it was clear something was broken and lids was in pain.
how have we wrapped him in cotton wool,he`s played senior football from day 1 when he was still a 17 year old.

carlton maggott.

that`s the second time lids has been kicked this season and nothing has happened to the kicker.
he was kicked in the shin earlier in the season which could easily have broken his leg.
i can`t remember what player did it but he was trying to trip lids, that dog didn`t cited either.
lids wasn`t so lucky this time, but he showed courage going in for the hard ball.

get well soon brett,we love ya mate.
Well said Mopsy!!--especially given that--
1. The "boy in cotton wool" had his hand busted
2. The "boy in cotton wool"sustained a potentil season endeding injury
3. The "boy in cotton wool" would be in the Top 5 if Jack Dyer medal voting stopped now
4. The "boy in cotton wool" is just 20 years old
5. Mark Mclure was hardly a hard nut himself- if he has any semblance of decency-he should publicly apologize for that trash talk

Whats more-I cant believe the incident was not even cited. As I remember the rules when I was playing-it was both written and unwritten-keep your boots out of a contest-in fact when I played that sort of act was put in the same shame box as squirrel gripping!! I just dont get it.

Mark Maclure you are a disgrace and nothing but a has-been show pony. Your ridiculous comments on 774 are a very poor example to all and sundry. You could sense in the broadcast booth that they too thought you were way out of line. If I were in charge at 774 you'd be booted out on your backside without question. Get a life !

Someone should drag out that old photo of McClure naked holding a sherrin over his private parts and send it to him next time he questions someone's character.

Hell he probably could have used a marble instead of a sherrin.

Deledio is not soft he just dosent work hard enough. He needs a coach to give him a bake and tell him the only way to show your true ability at AFL level is to run run run and work his backside off.

Having said that McLure is a *smile*, absolutey ridiculous comment. If he had an issue with Deledio that was not the time to take it up

Mike Sheahan wrote today that he thought the incident should have at least be looked at, said at the very least the action was negligent. Intentionally, recklessly or negligently kicking another person is a reportable offence.

Been a while since Lids was discussed.

Our apparent lack of interest in Scott Welsh had Miller suggesting brett s likely to be spending plenty of time up front next season.

He's been shuffled all over the park in his first three years of footy but I wonder what role Terry has in mind for our budding star in '08? Wherever it is I hope he gets a chance to settle.

I can see him being used in a role similar to that of O'Keefe at half forward but perhaps he might even be used as a fast leading full forward.

One thing is for sure though I am far happier to see our number one draft pick being used in a position where he can do most damage rather than sweeping off the half back flank.

Perhaps this is all part of Wallace's thinking in picking up McMahon to play that role.
Makes sense if correct.

Much of our fortunes will rest on Lid's 4th senior season.
I hope he has his breakout year and rips the comp apart.

Did actually Vodka Cruiser,

The recruiting of McMahon definately signals the intention of Deledio playing forward.

Can see him him being released further up the field on a wing, on-ball etc for large portions of 2nd half's to influence games with his fresh legs as well.

No problem with our most talented & creative players being played midfield-forward.

4/10 for the year..

He did ok in the B&F given he missed a few games. Relative to everybody else he is pretty good, relative to what we could become- he’s not there yet.
