What a new phone number?

surely he wouldn't be changing his number 3!!!!!!

Source?

I'm gunna take the long run, and speculate that the young fella may be hinting at 17. Bit of a risk, but with the cricket sucking someone needs to take the new ball and take a few risks ;D

Brett Deledio

Is it just me or does anyone else think he'll be in the games elite players by the end of the year? Just looking at his size now, I think he'll have a massive season.

Re: Brett Deledio

Hope so, but not many of the game's "elite" play as half forward flankers. More work to do.

Can anyone post photos of the boys training?

If you haven't seen it, this page has a recent photo of Lids:

Re: Brett Deledio

It took Luke hodge quite a number of years to get going and there were some serious questions about his no1 selection.
Let me tell you, I was at the Adel v Haw final this year and Luke Hodge won me over. He stamped himself as a genuine superstar of the competition. On one leg, he singlehandedly got hawthorn back in the game and was the main reason why they won. Forget about franklin that day, Luke Hodge was the man.

Absolute freak and if lids turns out as good as him we'll all be happy.

Re: Brett Deledio

I know Fudge was very bullish about Deledio's prospects in 2008 based on statistical data.

If size is your criteria for success then Stuart Dew is in for a massive season.

Lids stalled slightly last year overall IMO.

Early on I agree, but thought he played some of his best football after coming back from the broken hand.

Lets hope he can continue his late season form.

Yeah Gus he's still growing into the game, plenty to look forward to ;)

Re: Brett Deledio

Growing into his body - will be a valuable asset this year but more valuable in years to come. Bring it on!!!

Why did Whitnall retire? He was on track to win a Brownlow.
Was told only a table for 10 or 12 at Brownlow Night, everyone else would have gone home hungry as happened in the last couple of years he attended, crook knee had nothing to do with him retiring. Too many complaints from other attending scum players. ju$$ was worried the twig would be next on the menu! ;D

Re: Brett Deledio

Interesting year for Deledio. In a holding pattern a bit.

He got touched up by Cameron Ling. Got mauled. Got owned, jail style. Ling told him to take the bottom bunk.
That's Ok, Ling is as good as lock down as there is. And that was the black night of the year. One kick. Amazing.
He bounced back the next three weeks and had 22,24, 25 possies. Then Justin Sherman got on top of him. The thing that most disturbed me about this was that Sherman physically man handled Lids. Sherman makes fairy floss look tough. This one disturbed me far more then the Ling mauling. Sherman should not be able to run, jump and compete with Brett Deledio if he is giving it his all and is mentally locked into games. And this is the test for the young man, getting mentally stronger. Gut running. But again he bounced back with 25,23 possies after the Sherman game.
Even better was the come back after the broken hand. Up forward he looked a different type. He was a match up nightmare, very much a different match up when he is flying for overhead marks. Hard to find a tag for a guy who can burn the turf and take a overhead mark, not many of those around. And bags of 5,2,2,2 over the last few weeks gave the impression that he may be a better option up forward pushing into the middle then the other way around. Personally I think Wallace needs to dictate to the opposition and expose who ever is playing on Deledio. If James McDonald goes to him, push him deep. If Paul Wheatley goes to him push him up into the midfield.

Very few people can play that role, only those with massive footballing smarts can push into the play. Hird did it, G.Ablett does it and Adam Goodes does it some weeks. These are Deledio's challenges for 2008, become a gut runner and smart enough to expose the bloke his playing on and get mentally stronger. If he does 2 of these 3 he will a super year, if he does three out of three he becomes elite.
