So you can't split Lids and Judd but both *smile* all over Aker and McLeod...I'll take that :)

Bit misleading also with a lot more uncontested marks taken these days compared to the others early in their careers.

Handy numbers, just need to get him forward a bit more and taking his shots on goal instead of trying to dish off.

WestTiger,
Yes...it does look like pretty reading, doesn't it? 8)

Come along fine at the minute.

Would like to see him get some Kerr like clearances every now again, just dance out of traffic.

Not sure if Lids has the in close speed, the ability to start in traffic and get out of it. With a running start he has no problem weaving in and out but I would love him to get it in tight and find a way through.

Big test this week to see how he bounces back.

Everyone keeps talking about Lids not being able to deal with the hard tag but Iam yet to see him get a lot of help from some of his supposed elder statesmen on the team. Other teams usually have someone who gives these sort of taggers something to think about when the are being a little over zealous. Maybe a few of our senior blokes need to aske if they can do a little more to remind some of these taggers that they are being watched. ;)

Couldn't have said it better gustiger12...

In terms of presence and throwing around some weight, we are far behind the 8 ball.... Some may blame David King, but if it aint in you, can intimidation be taught??

In terms of ball winning and centre play, barring Axel, there has been no one else to help Lids and co....

This is where I believe we miss Cogs more than any other player.... He is our most natural ball winner and so good in close.... Forget Brown, Cogs is our most important player and brings so many others into the play.... Stick him in the centre with Axel, Lids and don't forget the man mountain in Simmons and it's looking like a mid-field with strength, speed and ball winning capabilities....

Plus the good teams have two or three good-to-top midfielders, and a very good tagger.

Look at the Eagles now....Judd and Kerr (throw Cousins in there as well)...thats a lot for the opposition to tag.
Then with their defensive midfielders, they have Braun or Chick..

Even a non-flashy team like the Roos....they have Harvey, Grant, and Harris (throw in Wells also), and then they have the likes of Rawlings, as a tagger.

With the Tigers at present, the opposition know, shut down Lids and we lose a LOT of our 'explosiveness' from the middle.
Most of our midfielders, such as Tuck and Johnson may get possessions, but they're like Adam Simpson of the 'Roos....they aren't really damaging, and not very fast....so it means we 'stop and go back' a lot.

Throw in Cogs AND Brown, and all of a sudden, we're starting to look a bit more threatening around stoppages, especially with Simmo giving us a good chance at a tap down the throat to one of our own midfielders, instead of relying on an undersized and inexperienced Patto.

If anything, what Lids is going through now, will out him in good stead for when we do have a good run with injuries (and some more classy players) in the middle.

Fantastic effort again General2PrettyBoy2Disco, I think the mcleod figures are interesting as they are similar to Richie's. I remember watching Mcleod in his early games and thought he was neat but a bit indecisive, apprehensive, non damaging. I think he won the Norm Smith medal in his third season and took off from there. Fingers crossed for Richie.

Couldn't agree more. We have no one blocking the Lids' taggers. I'd love to see jackson used a bit more for that. decent sized body and shows some mongrel. Get him, at the clearances, to make some room for lids.

Dunno

I'd continue to play him out as wide as possible, where he can use his speed
He's too valuable to have in close.

Fantastic today! Had great run and got plenty of the ball.

His had 20+ disposals 4 out of the last 5 weeks now, and lots of us were a bit uncertain about his goalkicking, well he has kicked at least 1 goal in the past 5 weeks and 7 goals 4 behinds for the year

Yeah he was good today. Shame about that fumble when he had the kick-out duties late in the game, but apart from that he was solid.

Belongs on a wing. The day we have the centremen around him to allow him the space to crate is the day he will take the next step to becoming a geniune star.
