Brett Deledio (merged)

Why are you making me out the villain ?

Deledio has every chance of being a champion in the future...BUT... he will be the "Daicos" type of champion rather than the "Harvey" type of champion.

My only argument with Brett is his "hardness" to the ball...and that's fine...it has been established he is the receiver type...that may change in years to come but the signs at present suggest it won't.

What is the big deal ?

No one needs to make you out to be the villain, you're doing a good job all by yourself.

If it were at all even remotely possible, read the tone of your posts again, and then try to *objectively* look at your responses to others.
Calling others morons, biased, etc etc, doesn't exactly win you a lot of friends, nor does it represent you as todays hero.

This debate must really be worrying you, because you said

quite some time ago. I suggest you have a bex and a good lie down. You'll see clearer in the morning.

Just for Rainsy's info it should be noted that Lids had 9 contested possessions last night; equal with Foley and behind only his "future champion" in Patto.

Geez Ridley, don't let the facts get in the way of RB's old-fashioned, ill-informed dummy spit... ;) ;)

I think RB just likes seeing his name and thread on the main page every week...

The thing is there's no doubt about Lids can improve this area of his game and last night was a step in the right direction. He has a lot of class about him and if we can get some better players around him, and he continues to improve his attack at the ball, we will have a real topliner on our hands. So Rainsy's argument does have a bit of merit.

What *smile* me though is he's so two-faced. He's on here having a crack at lids, which is his perogative, but then others point out that his new Superhero Patto's kicking is abysmal and couldn't hit the side of a barn (an argument that has a lot of merit) and he goes off tap calling them a disgrace, morons etc. A tad hypocritical me thinks ::)

Thought he had a very good game last night.
He is lifting his intensity.
His tackling has improved and the contested possessions he has picked up over the last couple of weeks are very good signs that his game is still developing.
Happy with the way Lids is going.

Bloody hell - Lids is the least of our worries. Why even bother starting on younger players when we have such a dirth of senior players that seem to not step up when the going gets tough.

perhaps we look at the senior group before lids.....like captain turnover...that bloke has lost me....how can you expect young guys to look for inspiration from a capain that continually turns the ball over by hand and foot.....

as someone also noted how come captain turnover can look so hacked at such a young age......

I'd quite like Wallace to set him 'The Deledio Task'. Make his number one goal for the rest of the season to have the highest tackle count at the club. To rate his remaining games on utilising his speed and nous into defensive pressure and not the dash & run we all know he has. More than happy to rob Peter to pay Paul in the short term.

Second highest contested ball gets on the ground Friday. Very soft, needs to lift his game ::)

Look as Lids' President, I was the first to admit that Lids was shocking in the Geelong game. He was soft as butter. But I will not accept people saying that he was soft on Friday night. A much better effort from Lids. He stood up in tackles, got clearances and generally chased hard.

Rainsy - I think you should judge Lids based on his last performaance rather than a flash in the pan shocker 3 weeks go.

I totally agree BT24, the last 2 weeks he has been very good and won his hard balls but RB seems to have selective memory and is carrying on about lids as though it was still the Geelong game.

From the 3 times I have remmebered to check Deledio's "contested possessions" column in the paper he has got 9 each time.

That is 27 contested possessions from 3 matches in about 5 weeks. Call it a coincidence but surely he doesn't just go in hard the days I look at the stats?

His tackling is pathetic but I'm glad to see his hardball awareness is rising.

At worst he will be an exciting good player capable of providing a spark with bursts down teh middle or long goals. At best he's the next Judd. My money goes on him becoming one of our top 5-6 over the next 10 years without ever being an elite midfielder. Tambling is my pick to be elite. :)

yet again when the Tiges needed a lift TW puts Brett Deledio in the middle...YET AGAIN HE FAILS TO DELIVER...poor Nathan Foley...only an ageing Johnson and Tivendale to help him out...hardly inspiring.
When will you all realise that Deledio is too soft to play in the middle. He is a class receiver type of player...will always be handy when the going isn't tough.
Is he related to Anthony Callea ?
Congratulations to Jacko...great game on Black...Bowden...a top job on Brown...honourable mentions to Richo,Polak,King and Newman for trying their guts out.
And Bling isn't far away from being a star...went missing in the first half...but presented himself when the game was there to be won and TW asked him for a lift.

Why don't you just put a reference to your first message whenever Lids plays a bad game. Alot less typing for you and a lot less reading for me.

Geez you're a goose Rainsy. Yep he was ordinary tonight. Shut down by Sherman who did a good job. But to pot him and say Tambling is gonna be a star?? On what evidence?? He just doesn't cut the mustard at the moment. And how'd your future champ Patto go?? Geez he was all over that shot for goal wasn't he??

By the way, didn't hear from you much after last week's game. Wonder why ::)
