Ling's successful demolition job on Kerr yesterday makes Lids effort in the Geelong game look far less ordinary.

Ling seems to have rediscovered his tagging form of yesteryear.
Mind you I though the AFL was supposed to be cracking down on taggers and their antics? :spin
Ling is nothing more then a cheat an it is a disgrace the umpires an the Afl do not pick up on his cheating ways.

Lets continue to let these parasites stop genuine stars from playing the game fairly so that the crowds just flock to watch high class games of Afl or better still how about we simply just let these blokes get taken out behind play ;D

Enough of this defence nonsense with Lids.

Play him anywhere from wing on up to forward line. Forget the centre - he is not an in-and-under like Foley.

Let him use his speed and long kicking.
i`m all for him developing his game by playing in defence but i think he should be played up forward more from now on to give him some confidence.
i think it`s draining him of his excitement for the game by continually playing him down back.
this kid is an awesome talent and maybe he has forgot how good he really is. he showed his class against port when he went forward by kicking 2 goals.
he`s played down back long enough now plough, it`s time he learnt how to play as a forward.

FWD or midfield ONLY Mr Wallace

Agree. Like all downhill skiers, he would be better suited to the wing or forward line where he can recieve the ball from others who are prepared to win the hard ball.

I always though Lids should have played up forward since his first season, as I don't think he was ever going to be an 'in and under' type of player, and therefore should not be expected of him.

Enough of the Judd comparisons, I think Lids looks like he's more likely an O'Keefe/Hird type but with pace.
I think there's plenty of merit playing giving him the licence to roam the wing and forward 50m.

Did I say ialready I was pleased to see he made 4 tackles on the weekend. 8)

Agreed Deledio on the wing gives him freedom to run like he did in 2005.

I agree with some of your starting comments. And Richard Tambling if you read this - you are in that boat and have been since Round 1. Need proof look at Carlton's second or third goal in the starting round 1, knew you had to put your body on the line and failed. During the blow up at half time he was with ten metres and was the last cab in the rank.

Good comeback by Deledio on the weekend, turned it around a bit.

I am starting to think that Deledio on a back flank may not be that bad a thing.

Jason Gram, Tadhg Kennelly, Lindsey Gilbee, Heath Shaw, Andrew Mcleod,David Wojcinski are all rolls royce back flankers who run and create. We do not have that. If Lids is to do that I want to see him creating and carrying through the centre square, not pushing out wide. Carrying the ball through the middle and giving the forward the option of leading any where. Too often our run and carry ends up out wide. Raines cannot do it as well becuase his kicking at speed is wobbly and up and under, Deledio can drill them. I would be commanding Lids to get 7-10 handball receives a week running through the centre square.

Sorry to bring this up Brett...but mate you went missing when we needed you at war in the first half...STILL SOFT...but I know now you will never be a HARD BALL WINNER...still there's a chance you will make it as a very good receiver...a Daicos type...you will never lead the Club before Nathan Foley does.

As for Richard Tambling...same boat mate as Brett...you chose not to put your body on the line.
But still you will be a good player for us as another classy receiver.

Perhaps both of you spend the whole week watching videos of Foley, Polo, Edwards, Howat and King playing their guts out for the yellow and black...they never once took a backward step.

It's called COURAGE and winning respect from your mates and supporters.

You are a dead set *smile*....Lids actually won his hard balls 2nite if you really watched the game closely, that great peace of play near our fwd line against the 2 crow’s players he beat them both in the hard contest and nearly got the goal for the team....

where was he in the first half ?
why doesn't TW play him in the middle ?
Answer - he is soft.

Mate I know he is a good player...not bagging his skills...but the kid is nowhere to be seen when the game is HOT.

Get back to me when you get it right

RB, i have got it right that’s why i replied to ur post,
I think he should be in the middle most times not just sparingly he would do a better job than Johnson thats for sure, One thing i can say TW as the season goes on will play him there more often but i reckon next year is when we will see lids in there full time.

RB you say...but the kid is nowhere to be seen when the game is HOT.....totally disagree you do remember last years grand finalists both games against the eagles and the swans this year especially the swans he was the one who took the game by the scruff in that 3rd Q and got us in with a sniff.

we see it different AT...that's ok mate...

Lids will always be in our best 18...the purpose of this thread was to rev him up...see if he is up to playing against the best in the middle...sadly he isn't...the likes of Foley, Polo, Howat and Edwards have put their hands up for those positions...we all know Sugar is gone.

All I'm saying is Lids and Bling are receivers...teams need recievers with skills and pace.

But if you ask me or anybody in our coaching group what type of players we prefer...the answer is simple...we will all answer we like the players that put their body on the line week in week out...not the free loaders.

That we do, now howat is a receiver and a good one at that he is not a hard at it midfielder...

Look we could go back and forth till 2moro, I know that Lids will be one of our main midfielders in the coming years, can you honestly say that Lids will not be playing in the middle regularly in the coming years, im telling u he wont be playing on a wing, that’s for sure.

The Tim Fleming type?

The qualities you mention are admirable but no good if you can't play. Maybe some us would like some players who can actually hit a target once in a while.

This club does not lack goers; it lacks CLASS.

Ok now you are really pi$$ing me off AT...Lids is in his 3rd year...why do you think he hasn't cemented a spot in the middle...HE IS SOFT...don't give me this crap about TW grooming him for the middle in years to come...if you can't see that he is SOFT...then you must be related to him.
You make it sound like I hate Deledio...I don't ....I think he is a good player.

Let me ask you this ?

If you had to choose between Foley and Deledio to remain at the club...who would you choose ?

If you choose Lids...then I know you are biased...but more than that...deleted...I'm going to bed now...night all

Lids is in his 3rd year; and he's also at least 2 years younger than Howat.

As for Lids v Foley; no doubt Foley is playing better footy right now. But in the long run Lids will be a better player as he has more class; partuicularly if we ever can develop a half reasonable side.

Ask yourself this; if one of the better sides had the ability to pick one of these two who would they pick? Lids absolutely no doubt.

You make me laugh, firstly if u don’t know how many years lids has played i suggest u keep ur biased comments about lids to urself... (It’s his 3rd year)
Secondly u ask me..... If you had to choose between Foley and Deledio to remain at the club...who would you choose?
See u end it with a "question mark" meaning i have to reply with an answer....Looks like by your reply i don’t have a right of reply and if i do im biased and a moron.....you are the number 1 clown on PRE...Take the cup now :cupgold RB accepts!

Once u start calling people morons mate uve crossed the line...

Why single out lids? I saw Tiva and Pettrified again jib the hard ball contests tonight. Both have the guts of an easter egg.
