Brett Deledio (merged)

He better pull his finger out.

He played like a girl on the weekend

so where are supposed to play lids.
we put him in the midfield last week. he had about 1 posi till half time. not even close to being good enough. so the coach says okay, lets move you to the fwd line and see if you cant get us a couple of goals.... i cant remember him leading strongly and marking, cant remember him crumbing a pack and snapping a goal. (hes only kicked 1 goal so far this season anyway..pretty crappy return id say)
so then where???
personally i think he is not ready/good enough to mix it in the midfield YET. i would probably like to see him off HBF, having more freedom and space to use his run and create fwd thrusts. not tough enough mentally or physically for midfield, and doesnt seem to be a natural goal kicker.........

Id play him on the wing that way he doesnt get thumped at the centre bounce.
Deledio would be an ideal winger.

If it's a youth policy, keep throwing him in the midfield.

so he gets 1 posi a half, and finishes the game with 5 posi's in total. r u serious...
i believe he picked up most of his posi's playing that half back/sweeping type role. he doesnt do nearly enough in the middle. just not up to it to be in the midfield atm, and doesnt show the hardness, endeavour, hunger etc as a foley does.
should be used ala griffen

What happens one week invariably doesn't happen every week. There's only one way to learn.......

One day the rest of the Tiger team will support you and you will be able to show us your real class during a whole game - rather than in the flashes that you do now.......

He's played in flashes his whole life. Even in junior years he was never consistent.
What a load of *smile*.
Did you ever see him play before he was drafted?

Bulldogs tried Griffen in the midfield this year and he was terrible and has been just as bad at HB. Most good young players are protected by those around them and Lids dosent have that. He would be dominating at a real team.

Congrats to the kid!!!! :clap :clap

lets hope he can put last weeks effort behind him and really step up this week.

He has all the attributes to be a champion of the game, all he needs to do is find the confidence and if he is played in the guts im sure he will really set the AFL alight and really re-pay the tiger faithful's hope in him.

Goodluck and congrats Lids.

Lids is a gun and with Tambling they are the best 2 players from the draft as Terry said. Lids is gunna be so much better than Lewis it aint funny - Lewis is slow and cant kick. He wont get any better but Lids has heaps of upside like Bling. I'd put Lids out of the center where he can run and kick long. You cant bag him after just one bad game. No-one has been bagging Griffin and he has had second and third year blues but it gets forgotten because they hide him and give him easy jobs.

okay so who is jordan lewis protected by? mcglynn, sewell, birchall, crawf, hodge mitchell......
he seems to be goin great, and so is his team.
try essendon. monfries, stanton dyson winderlich, peveril, hird, johnson.

doesnt matter who is there, the boy should be showing us something more off his own ability, than what he is atm. why can foley show it??

Tommy, Lewis is an excellent player.

keepa, as I said, one game is not enough to make a definitive judgement on anybody's ability to do anything. In 2003, at a similar age to what Deledio is right now, playing in the midfield, Judd had 4 touches in a big loss to St Kilda. Do you think the WC coaches should have judged his potential to play in the midfield on that performance?

Lewis is a pretty good kick.

disco man,

im not judging him on one game. nor am i really judging him on his possession count, though it should be much higher and maybe consistent for a player of his stated talent. my main issue is his percieved lack of harndess, commitment, desire, hates losing attitude. not getting the hard ball, not throwing his body in at clearances, not tackling and harassing etc. the 1% ers are sorely lacking from this guy. does he think he is too good to go in and get his hands dirty. in my orig comments i said i thought bling had gone past him, cause these things stand out to me and say that a player really cares, and really wants to be out there busting a gut trying to win for the team.

agree that lewis is a fine player. nice and hard and does the team things!

Mitchell, Hodge, Sewell and Crawf are all better than any midfielder on our list. Look at the support he has.
Monfries plays FP.

A 20 year old only playing 80% of the game and being thrown around everywhere is suppossed to average more than 18 possessions over his career?

keepa, aside from Sunday, he's averaging over 20 touches a game this year. Seeing as he's clearly our best kick, maybe his instructions are to try and get clear to receive as much as possible, hence the perception of not doing enough of the hard stuff?

yeah he gsts most of his posessions when he isnt in the midfield. when he's thrown in there, he seems to struggle and isnt near productive, and that is why im saying atm he isnt suited to the mid. he would be more productive of HBF. when he is in the mid, i would just luv to see him throw himself in and get the ball out and show some desperation, and hardness anyway. id love to see a comparrison of his posessions while in the mid compared to say half back...
i would hope he hasnt been instructed to be a seagull feeding off the side of packs Disco. isnt that tivvas job anyway ;D
