Brandon Ellis

Going backwards, too much ball and time in the back 50.

Needs to get touches between the two 50's. Looks confused in his role.

Can't always buy that Scoop, balls there to be won win the bloody thing, biggest thing I like about him first to years was his smarts, long way from that tonight, we must have his run an carry ability

I think he's a big part as to why the midfield has gone backwards. His run and carry coupled with penetrating kicking has dried up. No doubt Hardwick trying to 'teach him defensive responsibilities'.

That is what happens when your coach decides to move you out of your position that had you play your best footy. Lose your confidence and then spend the year trying to get it back and the team suffers. I blame Dimma for this one.

Struggles under pressure and panics with rash disposal. Needs to get better with his composure. Agree, his best footy is out in space with time on his side.

its about time Damian taught players to attack
He is destroying the natural instinct of young footballers
We need runners and play makers it's about time teams learn to defend against us
I'm sick of this negative coaching style Brandon was awesome in full flight last year now he's got to run around with an anchor on his arse and play against his natural instincts
Sad

I may have come in too harsh in that last post. But he's a young fella with far too much weight on his shoulders in this Richmond Lite team.

Brandon was less than his best tonight.

Has showed he can play, and under pressure. Just out of form, as are many.

Yep agree totally. Has lost a little of his composure but we've seen him inn the past very cool under pressure. Has lost his confidence probably partly due to how crap we're playing as a team as a whole.

He is the last bloke to get stuck into. At least we know he can play.
Ellis is a good kid, that just needs better players around him..

He's not the last bloke to get stuck into at all. You can't just pick and choose because you like or dislike the guy depending on age or playing style. You call what you see. What I saw last night was a guy with no confidence who just blazed the ball away even under minimal pressure, causing goals from turnovers. This is his 3rd poor game out of 4 games. The major issue I had with him was the 2-3 instances that he could have attacked the ball to at least make a 50-50 contest and he stood and reacted. By this stage his opponent had enough time to get and use the ball. I hate to say it but he should have been looking at the work of NICK MAXWELL. Yes I said it. Not the greatest footballer in the world but with the ball in front of him, or in a 50-50 situation that he had to run off his own man, he attacked the ball on every occasion and invariably won the ball and set the tone for his side.

Don't get me wrong. Ellis was not Robinson Crusoe in this regard and I was watching him for most of the game after his few glaring early stuff ups. The kid just needs to impact more contests. At the moment he looks like Grigg Jnr. Maybe he's just not fit enough???

Well said.

I'm an Ellis fan but even I can see the kid is way off his form of last year.

Why is it seen as a bad thing to go back to VFL and find form??

Agree re vfl.

No player should be gifted games after some bad form. Has had 1 good match out of 4.

Some positive reinforcement wouldn't go astray in this team and by that I mean the old get dropped for poor form and come back in after dominating the vfl.

Brando in VFL?

If Grigg and Shank get AFL reserved seats every week, so should Brando.

Harsh truth is he's been poor in 3 of 4 games.

Mind you Shank hasnt played a good game in forever and he, Newman and Grigg are still being gifted games.

Ellis is a good instinctive footballer. And a non-stop gut runner. And tough in the contest. And a whopping kick.

His best attributes are being coached out of him. He's playing confused.

Spot on.

Very true and would explain his lack of composure under pressure the past two weeks.

Second guessing yourself instead of using your instincts rarely ends well
