Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Ellis & Morris for Pick 14. Was there a better move in the draft last year?

Yeah, Richmond should get more props for this move. Suprised it hasn't got more.

It is a masterstroke. And why haven't GWS got more heat for passing on Morris?

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Loved his press conference. Refreshing to hear a Richmond player sound like he has this nearly obsessive drive to get the most out of him. Loved that he got in touch with Dimma about seeking to get better than just an average player, and wanting to do that as fast as he can. Thats what I want in Tigs players, wanting to do more than just "make it at AFL level". There has been to many of that kind of player at Richmond for to long. Refreshing!

And big ivan for pick 37. We'd have to be the best drafting team from last year.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

morris..what an absolute gun he is...must be close to all australian

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Congrats Brandon.

In other news David King gets the round 17 nomination for flog of the year.

He has been backed into a $1.01 favourite to take the award. :hihi

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

he has followed his worst game of the year (against GWS) with a month of good football. as others have said he is looking great for a 1st year player. a solid footballer right now and hopefully will improve plenty.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

The way he was beating flogging his man (who was that?) on the far wing/back flank under immense pressure on Sunday was bringing a tear to the eye for sure. Well done Brandon.

Well done to FJ and co for getting him also.

Congratulations Brandon Ellis on your Rising Star nomination this week.

And playing 16 games so far in your debut year.
Great news with your old man also.

:clap :clap :clap

Amen on all that.

Ellis paying $34 equal 9th at Sportsbet to take out the award, I reckon he'll finish top 5 at least.

If he runs out the remaining 6 games he's a massive chance in my opinion.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Don't think he can knock Wallis off. He's having a great year but no surprise there given it's his second in the system.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Richmond's Rising Star noms:

Northey (3 years) - Richardson, D.Kellaway (x2), Rogers, Tape, Bourke, Jurica
Walls (2 years) - Bowden
Gieschen (2 years) - Powell, Plapp, Dragicevic
Frawley (5 years) - Fiora, Rodan, Coughlan, Zantuck, Schulz, Hartigan
Wallace (5 years) - Deledio, Raines, Polo, Foley, Thursfield, Cotchin, Riewoldt
Hardwick (3 years) - Martin, Conca, Batchelor, Grimes, Ellis

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Just watched his interview on the RFC website and he mentions that around a month ago he initiated a talk with Hardwick where the coach challenged him to up his game for the remainder of the year and they came up with a few more one on one training things he has been doing. Ellis states that he was sick of being an average player and wanted to take his game to the next level. Up to that point most people would agree that he had a good year for a first year player. Just shows the character of the man, it is people like him and Cotchin that will lift this club from a mediocrity.

Got a feeling both Wallis and Ellis will be behind Talia at the Crows. Obviously don't see or hear much about him in Melb. but he's been playing some massive roles for the Crows.

Yep, reckon he's be right up there with the top 2-3 defenders in the least goals kicked on him.

Took Jack to the cleaners after qtr time against the Crows.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

I heard that no one nominated after Rd 14 has ever won it? Can that be confirmed? Be a great feather in Ellis' cap if he can do that.

Thanks for the summary, was never going to listen to it, definitely impressive and also a good reflection on Dimma.

Little on Dimma yes but mostly Ellis. For a first year player to not be satisfied with what most people would consider to be a good standard of play up to that point and actually go to the coach asking how can I improve is fantastic and speaks volumes. At a time when other youngsters are getting tired Ellis is lifting his game.

Was good to see him show some good marking skills of late also. He is strong for his age. Whilst he is not fast he runs all day. Plenty to like.
