Brandon Ellis

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Think one of the Tambling picks was used on McDonald not Helbig Disco. Considering Tambling will likely be delisted it remains a great trade. Raines for Dea is yet to be played out though.

But yes the point stands, we have done well trade wise in recent seasons.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Pretty sure Tambling was traded for the 1st round compo and 47, which was Helbig Leysy.

It also seems strange for someone to be critical of our drafting/recruiting when we've had an almost flawless record with first and second round picks for 6 years. It will be flawless if Elton and Post make it, which is still possible.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Nope was McDonald.

Leysy's been critical of our recruiting late in drafts & in rookie drafts. Think this is a major reason for the lack of depth the list still has. Cant recall too much criticism of our early picks though, in particular 1st RD.

Also Think you stretch our flawless record with 2nd Rd picks in particular. For various reasons all of Post, Elton, Batchelor, Griffiths are yet to prove themselves as quality long term players for our club. Some promising signs are there for most, but the end product is still to be consistently shown.

yep. From the AFL website

RICHMOND
Trades completed: Adelaide's end of first round compensation selection for losing Nathan Bock to Gold Coast plus a third-round draft selection (No.50) for Richard Tambling.

I assume that pick 50 turned into pick 51 which was Macdonald.

I'm referring to Ridley being critical of our drafting and recruiting, as he said. He didn't specify what aspect of it he was critical of so I jusy assume he's critical of all of it just as he's critical of our trading.

My bad on Helbig. Last time I trust Wiki for anything, lol.

We'll see on the second rounders. I alread said there's a big if attached to Post and Elton but IMO Batchelor and Griffiths have shown enough to reasonably expect them to be long term contributors, barring injury of course. Still, the strike rate with second rounders is pretty low so I can't see how anyone would be overly critical of these picks.

Had a mare the kid. Worst outing for the year.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

I want to believe Ellis is a player, I make excuses for his woeful decision making and horrible disposal every week because he is a rookie. Would not be getting a game at any other club.

Despite the loss a post like this just proves you have no idea maverick.

No sucked into the free love handed out to Richmond kids by naive posters such as yourself. I have seen a bunch come and go. The kid has no composure whatsoever, hopefully that will change but I have rarely seen it. Said the same about Edwards and Im waiting to see it kick in. Have a look at Heppell's 2011 if you want to see a rookie with composure.

Personally not convinced of his 2012 though.

Played LMID first year. Even Jason Cloke looked like a start doing that.

Hah some truth in that, but he is still a quality player this year.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

What's with all the shanks on his left? Appears to be very one sided.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

I like Ellis, but i have always thought he looked slow in his decision making, i don't think he has totally picked up the pace of the game yet, Tonight his disposal was terrible and helped cost the game.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Needs to work over summer on speed and skills. He'll be ok but was terrible tonight. Like many, he lacked composure and skills under pressure. Time is on his side though.

Of course Heppell has composure, goes no where near the contest!
Ellis has had a great year, but just had an off game - will happen.
