Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

It is good to see that our 1st round draft picks are consistently doing well for us of late, much nicer than the days of JON, Meyer and Pattison, OMG that seems so long ago, but it was also like yesterday

Yeah. Our early picks now quickly look like good players who could one-day be great, rather than dud players who might be one-day barely OK.

Richmond's Rising Star noms:

Northey (3 years) - Richardson, D.Kellaway (x2), Rogers, Tape, Bourke, Jurica
Walls (2 years) - Bowden
Gieschen (2 years) - Powell, Plapp, Dragicevic
Frawley (5 years) - Fiora, Rodan, Coughlan, Zantuck, Schulz, Hartigan
Wallace (5 years) - Deledio, Raines, Polo, Foley, Thursfield, Cotchin, Riewoldt
Hardwick (3 years) - Martin, Conca, Batchelor, Grimes, Ellis

Great insight this lis LTRTR, this highlights a lost era of development in our list!

Brandon is a most deserving nomination, he's a footballer's footballer.
IMO, he's be a good player in any era of the game!

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Just watched BE's presser.
He's a leader and should be considered for elevation into the leadership group next year.
I love the fact that he initiated the meeting with Dimma to lift his game, that's damn impressive for an 18 year old :clap
Also love the fact that he put Steve Morris forward as the coaches pet :cutelaugh

Wowee. What a impressive young man. Born leader. Just a good kid. Speaks volumes about the type of character we are trying to bring into the club.

How can you not want that bloke to succeed?

Couldn't agree more.

Great to see the Rising Star nomination.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Rapt for Brandon . Deserving.

Finally doing/picking good players as our first round picks. Impressive young man.

If he finishes the year strong , he just could get the Rising Star Award for 2012.

Thoughts ?

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

He's playing as an outside midfielder at the minute and doing a pretty good job. Hopefully he can convert into a clearance player because that's where he will be most effective for us IMO. Good hands in tight.

Doubtful, I just don't think he has dominated a game like some of the other nominees have. Would need to have at least one big game where he does something to make people stand up and take notice.

They are presumably disappointed that umpire Michael Jennings has played to many games to be nominated for the rising star after his match winning display on Sunday http://aflcommunityclub.com.au/index.php?id=525

:hihi Nice one Col. It reminds me of a Hawthorn supporter who called talkback radio after Goldspink retired and asked if Essendon would get an extra pick in the draft to compensate :hihi He crucified them in the 2001 PF.

Anyway well done to Brandon. Looks as though he will be a fine player for many years. A good footy brain, good strong body and a nice kick as well.

Said he has no special traits, and hasnt seen much of him to say he should be a first rounder. Kings got a big ego these days with all his dud media work.

Ellis & Morris for Pick 14. Was there a better move in the draft last year?

Agree. I am often critical of the RFC in the area of drafting, trading and recruiting, but this has turned out a great deal. Hopefully we'll see more like them in years to come.

Cheers. King is a total flog. A very good footballer, shocking assistant coach who spent most of his time at training kicking the footy with other assistants, and almost as bad as a commentator.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

I know others have pointed this out his good 4th quarter already, but you do notice watching his highlights on the club website that he really did finish the game strong. Impressive for a young man who hasn't done a full pre season yet.

he has followed his worst game of the year (against GWS) with a month of good football. as others have said he is looking great for a 1st year player. a solid footballer right now and hopefully will improve plenty.

He's looked tired at times, but for an 18yo to have played every game and be improving at this stage of the season is promising. Could see where King was coming from ealier in the year but I've raised my long-term expectations of Ellis.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

vastly becoming a favourite in my household..gets better and better as the year goes on...and he is only eighteen and yet to have a full pre season and just come thru some personal family turmoil..exciting times ahead

How about Tambling for Helbig, Elton and a second round compo pick? Pick 37 for a 26 year old A grade ruckman? Grigg for Collins? Raines for Dea? I can see why you'd be critical though. Schulz for Nason and Farmer is unforgiveable.
