Brandon Ellis

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Pure footballer. Rapt to have him. He was at our Auskick clinic a few weeks back and is a ripper kid. He will be an asset to the club on and off field for years to come.
Can see him becoming a midfielder in years to come once he builds his endurance.

He sure is. For some reason he reminds me of Nathan Buckley as a footballer. No frills, square jaw steely eyed look, slightly baggy shorts and a true competitor.

And in turn, Buckely reminded me of...........Jack Dyer.

I must be missing something that the other sceptic's are seeing.Kid shows no fear, has a lovely kick on either side and know's how to find the footy.

A bit harsh on the kid i feel.

Lot harsh I feel. He is 18 right? Unbelievable. It never ceases to amaze me how many people want every player on the list to be an instant Ablett

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Had a very good year to date. Can't expect too much else from the boy in his first season. I like him.

He looks extremely comfortable after 16 games at the highest level.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Hadn't realized or forgotten he is only 18. Wow 250 gamer here

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Was definitely robbed this week. We hold on and win on Sat he get's it over Caddy. Did I hear correctly he had about 12-13 touches in the 3rd quarter? Gets involved a lot and runs to the right spots. No idea what Kingy's on about.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

I think he will be an ultra reliable player once he develops a tank. His fitness is good for a first year player so think after a couple of pre seasons he will be one of the fittest out there.

He's already one of the best runners at the club, top 3 this year from memory. It's the repeat sprints/match fitness he will need to build on.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Watching the efforts of Ellis and Conca in the 3rd quarter particularly it struck me that the character criteria will hold us in good stead. This boy's tough, mentally and physically. And plays for the team. I doubt we'll ever have an issue with him or Conca.

Strongly agree. Both Ellis and Conca are extremely sound defensively for players their age. One of the reasons for the team's consistency this year is most of our young players are good in this area. Remember, a goal saved is equal to a goal kicked. X-Factors make highlights, sound defensive teams make finals.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

For an 18 year old he knocked the stuffing out of Ablett when he gave him a nice old bump. We havent seen that from 10 year players at Richmond let alone a 1st year player.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Cant wait to see his development working alongside The Cotch & Lids , he is good now and has the tools to be a great player king is a tosser

I totally agree. We are clearly going into recent drafts with character/leadership as a priority. IMO this is the only path that will lead us to a position where losses like last week will be a distant memory, not a annual occurence. It is no coincidence that those two plus Cotch were the ones that stood out on Saturday.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Like Ellis a lot. He seems to stay in the moment - doesn't lose focus or over-react either way. Very even temperament.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Apparently one of the nicest blokes ever, and isnt fazed by being an AFL player. Heard it first hand.
