Brandon Ellis

Obviously a billion thing can happen over a footy season , however with tightness in the cap , the game said to becoming more contested and us with a wealth of genuine midfielders coming through as well as wings and half backs like Short, Kmac, Turner, RCD, Ross, Stack, Houli, Rioli, English, Bolton, Lambert, Markov, Broad and Naish, I’ll be shocked if Brando is not at another club next year.

I hope Ellis once again proves himself at the lower level and not just makes it into the senior team, but cements his spot.

His best is excellent.

Otherwise, he will have to settle for a lower salary or a change of clubs.

The game is becoming more contested, and on top of that, our style has an emphasis on contested. Short will struggle too. Hopeless when he's not in the clear, great when he is.

I think his best position is the wing had average game on the weekend
Still think he is a chance to be a good player for us this season with his elite running

Elite running is the only reason he's still on a list. That excuse is worn out. Just isn't skilled enough under pressure.

Running? He never carries the ball, his first instinct is to go sidewards or the short 11 metre pass.
His own strength is his endurance

Endurance in footy is usually related to putting one foot in front of the other a remarkable number of times withinin a set period of time. Also known as running.

Definitely not Brando’s biggest fan , however watching his and Houlis incumbents on Saturday night I.e Markov, Menadue and even Shorty to some extent , I’m not sure Brando wouldn’t still be a better running option out of half back, bottom line for me is we don’t have a Houli replacement at this stage.

They'll need to fill the bill for now but hope that Naish and Frasier are ready to audition soon.
I think both will be there in the next couple of years and may even get a gig this year, just can’t see either been physically ready come September.

Like Anthony Miles who improved our list when he arrived but then our list moved past him

I reckon he will be in the mix with Jack Ross for one of those last spots in the Round 1 team. I suspect they will go with Ellis over Ross

Would be disappointed if so. Ross has done very little wrong whereas Ellis was according to reports pretty underwhelming in his VFL practice game. I'd prefer we reward performance.

This is spot on for all his running prowess- when do you ever see him running and carrying the footy or breaking lines? He is a great runner no doubt but he doesn’t hurt you anywhere near enough for the role he plays.

Im gonna play the brando advocate role ( im really just cutting and pasting from my Kmac advocacy file)

Tiger defensive runners, who have been predominately brando and kmac i think,

Dont really need the ball.

Having said that, i dont think brando is best 22 anymore but i hope we retain him because id feel comfortable with him coming into a gf side if wed lost 4-5 best 22s

For some reason, he goes short the majority of the time. Doesn't attack the game by foot. I reckon he's lost confidence completely in his foot skills. Far too safe.

Guru Bob says that a defensive runner who has the ball is an attacking runner.

Think about that one.

As a backup he's still ahead of Markov & Menadue currently.
Not sure I'd have him in front of Lego at the moment.
Bobble goes to ground too easily n Lego's been double grabbing n fumbling a lot, but at least when Lego gets hold of the pill. He attacks with it, while Bobble's generally looking for the cheap safe dish off, someone to save him. Of the two I think I'd rather see Lego get a handful of games n perhaps settle that little bit of composure, unfortunately Bobble seems to have regressed since 2017.
