So, what exactly did you guys like about his game today? What made his game better than KMac's or Grigg's (seeing as you are just about unanimous that they had shockers)?

Was it his 68% disposal efficiency? KMac's was 78% and Grigg was 72%.

Was it his 3 score involvements (I'm assuming one of those was his missed shot from 30m out, almost directly in front)? KMac also had 3 and Grigg had 6!

Was it his ZERO inside 50's? KMac had 4 and Grigg had 2.

Was it his 4 clangers? KMac and Grigg both had 3 (Houli had 7!!!).

...or was it his ZERO tackles for the entire game? KMac had 5 and even Grigg had 4!

Maybe it was when he ducked his head in the p!ss poor spoiling attempt deep in defense that resulted in a Hawthorn mark and shot on goal?

Maybe it was when he was jogging back through the middle so that he wouldn't make a contest in time which resulted in a kick off the ground to Roughie and a shot on goal (missed luckily)?

Other than the intercept mark.....what did he actually do for 120 minutes? Did he win a single contest? Lay a shepherd? Smother a kick?

big, steamin' pile.

I didnt think it was Bellis's best game, but hes set a high bar this year.

He slide in head first and won a 2:1 on the HBF late that was inspirational.

He's bought in to 2017 100%

Well said Agincourt!!!

I'm amazed that supporters continue to have rose coloured glasses with this guy!

Yes - I think he has had a few decent games in recent weeks - but his flaws are GLARING!!

Today he was BAD.

Weird comments considering all the talk today has been about the performance over the last few weeks, not just today. Thought Ellis had a good first half but was pretty ineffectual in the second. But Ellis has imo been the best of the 3 mentioned players over the last few weeks.

His first quarter was atrocious!! Turnover after turnover and it didn't get much better after that!!!!!!

Come September he is going to come under intense pressure and will need to step up.

I really really hope he can for the sake of my club, but im not pinning as much hope on him as you.

Congratulations to Brando for signing on for another 2 years.

There were a few, but he has lots of good mates at the club and didn't want to leave.

Big turnaround over 12 months ago where the club was shopping him around.

x2. Had a great season. I will say though I like thats its 2 years. The old Richmond would have done 4.

It's easy to judge footballers as if they're robots producing statistics in a gameplan-controlled state, but they're not. He's a reminder of the human side of elite performance. And also why it's important to persist with people and fill them with confidence (one of Hardwick's strengths).

This is why it's so difficult to criticise from the outside. You never know which players could spike in performance with a little confidence and show of faith.

At a lower level, Taylor Hunt had moments and one-off games where he was a good player too, but the faith wasn't enough to bring it out of him consistently.

That is why criticism of Hardwick's selection of Hunt for example shouldn't be overly criticised, as the general philosophy turns players like Brandon around into what they are now as opposed to the alternative output. You can't bring out the best in some players without also showing too much faith in others in hindsight.

Agree 123kid. I made a similar comment in the Astbury thread yesterday.

As for Brando, well deserved. Carry that form into the finals son.

Stats say he had 3 turnovers for the game. So I think you might be exaggerating just a tad. 13 other players had the same or more turnovers. I re-iterate thought his first half was pretty good but was pretty ineffectual in the second half.

Well you'll be happy now that Mr Ineffectual has another 2 years. Congratulations.
