Brandon Ellis

He worked like a bastard and had it six more times than anyone else, but butchered it a bit. Not in my top five (Dusty, Sheds, Chimp, Lids, Ivvy).

People voting on football games should not be allowed to look at stats. If they need to, they're not qualified for the job.

He butchered more because he had so much more ball. Also had 2nd most contested possessions (unusual for Ellis). You shouldn't necessarily be penalised for that. Still had 25 effective disposals - that's elite level. Ran his arse off and was in everything. How about when he'd just gut run half the length of the field and gut ran back when the opposition ran back up the ground with it. Unbelievable. No doubt his kicking isn't the greatest but for overall package he was brilliant last night. Each to their own but I can't see how he wasn't top 5.

Frustrating that his disposal is letting him down at the moment, he's working himself to a standstill during games, massive work ethic. Get that little bit of composure happening with the ball when he's got a bit of time n space n there'll be nothing to grump about from his game.

Yep, that was fantastic. Maybe I was a bit harsh, and he sneaks in ahead of Ivvy.

He's gained a yard. Who was it that he ran down? (The commentator called Ellis 'Taylor Hunt'.) BTW Ellis's defensive efforts put him well in the votes IMO.

And he could not walk for periods of the third quarter. Our best gut runner knackered in the third. :clap

Now. That *smile* goal he missed? Did he even score? That was *smile*. Nobody kicks that badly for goal. It's self sabotage and the 'self' part of that is the problem. It has to end.

I would play him full forward for spells. There is no self. Kick the *smile* goal.

The rest of his game is relentless endeavour.

Whilst he won the medal I can't see past the fact that he slaughtered the pill tonight wih terrible disposal at times and at other times looked ok?
I feel the same way, he's clangers seem to hurt us more for some reason

Geez your a harsh bunch. That much running at his age of course he's gonna be a little loose with the disposal from time to time. Fatigue. I'll let him off for that as long as he keeps the running up. In his 4th year and not yet 22. Wait till he's 24/25. He will be a genuine elite and will cope better with the work load and the disposal will improve as a result. Superstar in the making.

Heap of possessions and absolutely ran himself into the ground. There was a period in the game when he was absolutely stuffed and that was also a period where Essendon had some slight dominance, that's no coincidence.

I'm with you Robster, tough crowd for Brando on here.

I think Leigh Matthews described gut running as a form of courage.
Brando has the desire to push through the pain and keep running.
He has it in spades.

Ran himself into the ground. Some errors cam with it but was def one of our best. Late in the game just kept willing himself to get to the next contest, often with triple repeat efforts. I understand why he sometimes butchers it, he knackered! He and Kam must give the GPS a workout.
Can't wait to see him at 25.

yes.

What i like about Brando is that he is not satisfied. Just wants to get better and better.

I suspect he may be a future skipper as well

He is a beauty, but he might face a cage match with Miles for the (C).

Geez I'm glad I got this bloke wrong, thought he was just goin to be a solid foot soldier with no real tricks other then great endurance.....his now bloody good

Well 8 votes from the coaches. BOG in quite a number of media outlets. Looks like a majority saw that the positives of his game far outweighed the over-stated disposal issues that some have kept harping about. He was clearly up there with Edwards as best player for the game.
