Bosses of the world rejoice- PRE outage Friday 2nd December

Will there be a list of who is ignoring who? And if so, who will have access to it, or will it be a system much like PM's, unable to be seen by anyone but the user themself?

I haven't checked it out but I imagine it will be info that only the person doing the blocking will know. If someone tries to PM someone who has blocked them they'd probably be advised somehow that their message couldn't be delivered. Yet again info only available to the individuals involved.

It's hard to believe the above comments are any more than trolling for a bit of attention considering the contradiction in your comment below.

Censorship? Suppression of speech? Putting yourself in a bubble? :blah

You keep bringing that up Rosy.. It was a blatant Rascist comment and it has nothing to do with the bigger picture i speak of.. Let it go Rosy

i dont think you understand what im saying.. its NOT about the FORUM its about people themselves.. if all you want to do is read fluffy things on a website and not get the views of everyone than i say that person is censoring his own reading..

I myself would rather challange the persons opinion instead of just blocking it

Your choice. Let us know if you wish to go ahead with it.

Does that mean the mods can choose to not be ignored. Thought Harry asked a reasonable question though I assume you are concerned about Patsy talking only to himself about the halcyon days of Hislop.

What a hassle over a simple function. All the team are doing is making it easier to ignore particular posts. However, it doesn't matter whether the ignore function is there or not as in normal usage we can still just ignore any reply we don't want to read as no doubt many of us do now.

I agree with this. I hope the people who wanted this function use it. Can't see a need for it myself, but I support the site admin introducing it on the request of other posters.

You're a bit generous there Streaker. The admins haven't added the function by request. It is just a standard part of the forum that we need to upgrade to. This version is quite outdated and has security issues.

The reaction to something that is entirely personal choice and won't affect others is quite amusing. I'm surprised so many think it's a big deal.

I though this function was a request.

How can it not affect others if they are the ones being ignored especially when expecting a response during a debate?

Shouldn't this function be used more for trolls or idiots who post abusive comments (e.g. on YouTube) which is rare on here, rather than someone choosing to ignore regular poster(s) on here? It doesn't make any sense.

Because it seems to me you take every opportunity to be negative about the way the place is run while rarely if ever showing any gratitude or positivity.

I'm just asking (enquiring) about this new function which seems a bit silly and pointless (even as others have mentioned).

There's nothing negative about it. It might be fine for some to ignore others, but as I asked, what's the point of someone being ignored anyway when you're not a troll on here?

I'd prefer to have PRE updated with speedier downloads especially when it gets really slow on busy days. It's been happening for years.

1-It has been requested in the past but that's not why we're getting it. It comes standard with the upgraded forum.

2-People have the right not to respond in a debate whether they have someone on ignore or not.

3-It's a freedom of choice. I doubt many will use it but the option is there if they choose to. Everyone is entitled to their own way to use it. What they choose doesn't need to make sense to you. It's their business.

The point is personal choice and enhanced enjoyment.

PRE is certainly comparable to other sites and often better in terms of speed and reliability despite the heavy traffic. You obviously get what you pay for though. I can't afford to use a top of the range whizz bang host.

It isn't an either/or choice between that and an ignore function anyway. You are welcome to ignore the ignore function. You are also welcome to pay for us to have a faster host.

I would assume anyone that puts another poster on an Ignore list would already be ignoring their posts and not responding to them. If you are already bothering to respond, then why ignore them ?

Plus I doubt that the function will be used to squelch opinions that are differing, it'll be more for members that you find annoying.

I doubt I'll have anyone permanently on my ignore list but on game day threads I'll be loading it up so that I can view/read the match without the constant *smile* and crap that happens on a game day thread.
