Scoop Mclure saying Lennon for Yarran and Barrett saying Lennon not part of the deal for Yarran. For once I hope Barrett is on the money.
We are all getting worked up on this because few if any want to see Ben walk. The only ones that really know what is going on is Ben and the contract / recruitment staff so we just have to wait on fact not rumour. Hopefully we wont have too long to wait.

Interesting BH. I have heard he is staying and is not part of any Yarran deal .

Depends who you talk to I guess

Ben will only stay if we match Carlton's offer, that doesn't appear to be happening therefore a Lennon for Yarran deal is looking very likely.

Barrett isn't the most relaible source.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Lennon for Yarren doesn't make any sense on the grounds that Richmond is not prepared to offer their first round draft pick for Yarren.

If we feel Yarren isn't worth a 1st round pick in a weak draft, why would we trade a first rounder from a reasonable draft who is starting to show signs of being a seriously good mid sized forward?

I find it hard to accept that only if the offer is matched. If we are in the ballpark surely any reasonable and respectful person would put mateship and loyality first.

We have offered a 2 year deal, I believe Carlton have offered 4 years.

Lennon for yarran is laughable.

Not laughable but certainly not a blockbuster deal where we come walking away with a big grin. The bottom line is this, if we are unable to meet Lennon's demands then he either goes into the PSD and we get nicks, or we do straight swap for Yarran. We are not in a great position to bargain.

carltank are currently paying 100% of their salary cap so the figures reported here are laughable!
If that was true, then the departure of Judd would presumably free up some cash

Judd, Henderson, Yarran & Carrazo will free up plenty of space.

Have heard that Lennon for Yarran is just about a done deal. Not sure how I feel about this one but if Ben wants to leave then so be it.
Going against the grain here but I like that deal.

People are being blindsided by Yarrans recent performances. He has massive upside and fills a massive hole in our team. His run and pace is something we severely lack. Unfortunately Ben doesn't provide that.

No have to disagree. It is laughable.

Agree.

Don't worry though SA. Yazz will burn it up early next year and everyone will follow us onto the bandwagon.

Neither is Scoop Mclure a reliable source btw. (maybe we aren't as well ;D)

This has always been about the length of the contract, I think i posted that a few weeks ago. From what I have been told the only party talking about Yarran for Lennon is Carlton and as far as Richmond is concerned they are in negotiation with a required player who wants to stay but is looking for a better deal. The club and the playing group's expectation is that Ben Lennon will play for Richmond next season.

C'mon Smoko.

Yazza 24 years old and 119 games
Lennon 20 years old and 15 games

Big difference there. We can't simply swap an up & comer for a seasoned player.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

If and its a big If, Ben wants out, I'd hope that we would be able to negotiate a trade whereby we swap our 2nd rounder with their 2nd rounder. I'd be relatively content if that wad the equation as it gives us a pick to get us a contested ball winner like Redden or CEY.

All Ben has to do is nom for the PSD

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Lennon fancies himself as a peer of the likes of Lids. He should take note of what Lids and others have done and sign for less than he could get elsewhere.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Would be happy to see Yarran in the team.
Want Lennon in the team.
If we're to only have one of the two - Lennon for me.

The bandwagon is surprisingly empty at the moment but like you said will fill up very quickly. Add Bennell and we have gone a long way in one off season to help address our one paced team.

Now that you have put it that way we might have to also throw in a sweetener.

Ps. The uncontested argument is rubbish, he averaged 4.6 CP this year compared to 7.2 UP this year. Compares fairly well to other outside players. Sure he isn't a contested beast but he does get involved in the contest far more than last year when he averaged 2.6 CP.

And he got better as the season went on.
