Ben Lennon

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

If he was leaving he'd make it look like he's staying, and vice versa.

The language used is too blatant to be believable that he's leaving. It stinks of a manager scripting an answer to scare the club into paying more IMO.

Classic bluff.

Raises eyebrows at this stage. Ellis did much more in his first two years and asked 'Where do I sign?".

Hope we're not dealing with another *smile*.head manager.

its the same manager who manages Lids.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

I read in another article that he was taken aside by Lids earlier in the year and told that he had all the talent in the world and wasn't working hard enough.

Great leadership by the VC

He moves like Lids imo, not as quick obviously. Has the vice like hands that Lids has when marking.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Ben Lennon doesn't have the explosive yard of Scott Welsh but he reminds me of that player in his marking, his strength and his nous. Scott Welsh was an outstanding and underrated player.

Like a silky Ryan okeefe

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

They weren't much silkier than ROK. Class.

Its a good comparison for Ben to aim for though.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

ROK had outstanding endurance.

Interestingly, Lennon said he has been modelling his game on Gunston.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

It would be good if later on he can do the odd stint in the midfield like ROK did.

Had a feeling he may get it this week. Well deserved. Has really looked like he belongs at the higher level since the St Kilda match.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

There are lots of comparisons of a type of player he is but the fact is that a medium half forward who can play tall and small, play the link role between half back and half forward, snag a few and play 15-20% in the midfield is gold.

They are also a difficult match up and the guy who usually goes to a player like Lennon is the one the opposition relies on for the chop out for the talls because you cannot play a small defender on him.

But where does that leave McBean?

Why would you model your game on Gunston when the great Beano is right in front of your face. Best role model ever.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Signing this boy up should be a priority

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Some word that Lids earlier this year told him he had to work a lot harder than he was.
Think it's great that it looks like he's going to be a very important player but that work rate has to remain high and get higher each year if he really wants to make an impact.
Been said many a time that the AFL landscape is littered will talented players who didn't break a sweat.
Success doesn't come easy at senior level.

The article that Lids says that in is a great read. Talks about how Richo & Kane Johnson did the same for him. Told him talent wasn't the issue, work rate was.

Good to see Lids sending the message and being a leader and even better to see Benny respond, change his game and come back into the AFL side a better player.
Huge tick for culture.

yes, but still posters reckoned we erred by not playing him all year.

It might be a fair argument that we should have played Lennon up forward early instead of Morris. Regardless of workrate and pep talks.
