Because he's played a handful of games n hasn't really proven anything yet. Kids got plenty of potential, bit early to be offering long term or big fat dollars to almost. Solid two year deal with some reasonable incentives n then his next contract after that starts to be big fat n smelly moolah when he's a proven performer.

Precisely, he's paid to kick goals too, shanked a few on the weekend which needs to be ironed out.

Wants a 4 year deal RFC offering 2 years.... No need to worry, loves RFC...
yes, similar to what I have heard.

He's a confident fella and he is backing himself ;D

The deal will get done, both sides want it

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

We just have to wait and see if he has ambition or just wants to chase the dollar. I hope he does the former at a fair cost and stays. We will see over the next few weeks but should we do OK in the finals then we have plenty going for us.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Just from what I have seen so far this kid is going to be very very very good. He is a great size and has great skills. I was concerned mid season about him but now it's sky is the limit stuff with him.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Has been slower than the recent first round picks Conca, Ellis, Vloss but NOW see that he has some very very handy attributes. Another pre season, some polish and composure in front of goal and we look to have another gen outside the top 10 of the draft.

Good clubs dont let emerging talent like this go. Would be a massive call to make this part of a Trelore type deal....

I'd give him 4 years.
Hasn't earned it yet. One good game and a few promising ones. Give him one year and if he performs the next contract can be four.

Some players respond to that sort of challenge and some don't . I am not sure that is the way to go with a 20 year old and would just mean speculation in 2016.

Personally I would be happy with a 3 year deal, it gives security and is not out of line with other contracts in the club. One year deals are for players who are playing for their careers.

Offer 3yrs.
Done

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Just do the 4 year deal. Worst case scenario, he's in and out of the team, but considering what pick we invested, we'll keep him around for at least another 4 years.

Best case scenario he gets AA next year, Chad Wingard style, and we keep him signed for unders for 4 years.

It will get done. Either 3 with less performance-based stuff or 4 with more.

Promising signs. To the clubs credit, we needed some cream, and we got it.

Touch wood.

2 years should be the offer with an option for a 3rd. Keep him hungry. Hasn't done much at all yet.

In other sports - its wise to lock down 'key assets' on long term contract
