I reckon he's not playing due to his defensive pressure. On a wet night you need people that are prepared to tackle.

Could be a fair point there, Posh.

Spoke to a mate of mine who has done a lot of work with the Northern Knights over number of years and reckons Lennon could have / should have gone higher in the draft. His only knock was his fitness which he never really needed to work at given his high level of skill. Lennon is a natural footballer with a great footy brain. Apparently he played a couple of games with the Knights 3 seasons back at the end of the season as a 16 year old (where most are in 17 - 18 bracket) ...just to give him a taste...and booted 4 goals in both those games.
Seems mate's assessment was pretty accurate. Lennon now finding he needs to work some to get to the next level.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Ross Smith said pre game that his tackling and defensive efforts weren't up to standard to warrant a call up .sounds like the kid is going to have to change his attitude pretty quickly .

Explains why Morris gets a gig every week then, 'his tackling and defensive efforts'.

His slipping and sliding was top notch tonight. Two 9s and a 10 from the judges.

Few to pick from who weren't up to scratch in that department last night. Hopefully Lennon will now get his chance.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Must be in now.

The kid has beautiful kicking skills that we so desperately need.

You'd think he'd fit right in with quite a few others playing in the 1sts then

Winning the ball and class not rated at Richmond. That's why Morris plays & not Lennon,

Absurd. This is farcical.

To see our lack of skills on display last night compared to Melbourne was embarrassing. Knowing we have such a skilful player who was picked as an emergency is even worse.

Another that seems to lack pace.

Yeah but its his first game this year. It does take time to find the pace of the game from VFL.

Needs to know he'll be given a go for a few weeks, rather than one game then back to two's.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Alarm bells were ringing when Hardwick matched him up on Harry Taylor.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Will be one of the kids dropped next week it's Dimmers rule

I fear you've nailed it, btoz

But many more reasons for fear in the next 5 weeks, methinks

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Get's a game. gets a odd matchup on Harry Taylor. Get's subbed.

More than likely gets dropped to play a attacking role in the VFL.

Comes back to the AFL to play a defensive role. Rinse, wash, repeat.

Almost as bad a call as not starting Rance on Hawkins.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

I've been plugging for this bloke to come in and I hope he plays the rest of the season so we get to find out what he's got.
Just hope it's good enough because today wasn't impressive.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Very hard to get a kick as a high half forward with our game plan.

They crucified him today
