Our forward depth is a massive worry. I actually think it's a concern on field, let alone within the list. Our kpp stocks are extremely thin.

Can I ask, assuming Chol and Lloyd are playing poorly at VFL level, who would you bring in for Lennon?

I guess there's an argument to go Miles for Lennon, and rearrange, but that's a hit to the structure.

I'm assuming Griff replaces Elton.
Was said the other day that Garthwaite may actually get a go this year up forward

Would be interesting. He would be an undersized key position forward, but he's a good mark, and kick. He's played down back so far, so if forward is in the planning, hopefully they trial it at the reserves first.

Yes definatly in the VFL, I gather there using this year as very much an education year for him and he may get a go at both ends. I believe was very good as a CHF as a junior playing amongst men and only went back for the Mighty Bushies.

VFL form aside, Lennon has had 4 games now at AFL level this season (including 2 practice matches) and looked short of the level (all bar one or two good things he's done) but it's nowhere near enough.
Lloyd is the obvious replacement. Thought he was harshly treated after round 1 after the win against the Blues especially as he was our 2nd leading goal scorer for last year. Against the Blues he had 10 possessions, made 3 tackles and kicked a goal which is still more than Lennon has had in both his recent snr outings. Lloyd had 26 possessions in the VFL on the weekend apparently too. He is a proven goal kicker at AFL level. Very stiff not to be in the team IMO.
Other options would be Chol who copped an untimely knock last week. Garthwaite as has been mentioned is a possibility.

Markov is another option and the one I'd like to see. At 188cm is the same height as Lennon and was recruited as a forward. Whulst he's apparently looked a little lost in the VFL this year, it's worth trying him in the role Ben is currently playing. He could hardly go worse could he?
Menadue, C Ellis etc. are other possibilities that come into the 22 and switch things around a little.
There are other options to replace an under performing Lennon believe me.

True, but at least Lennon has had some big impact at reserves level this year. And for the first time in his career.
Well let's play him where he has most impact.

I'm not sure you can ask to replace an underperformer in the AFL with an underperformer in the VFL.

Again, I say, if you want to be promoted, show something. Put your hand up. Lennon's spot is there for the taking.
He's the last person to actually show something.

This Sam Lloyd versus Ben Lennon debate will be resolved soon.

What we are looking for is a third tall forward. We need a third tall who is around 188-92 cm tall, has good goal sense and can complement the pace of the mosquito fleet i.e is also quick. Neither player fits this bill, mainly because both are slow as treacle. Lloyd is not tall enough either. We are now all-in on having pace in the forward line.

Looking at our list, who do we have than can play this role? Menadue comes to mind. Chol is not quite ready but could fill the role in time. Callum Moore? Maybe? Markov? None of these guys plays with the intensity we are looking for just yet but they all have the other tools.

Lennon has had a couple of opportunities, maybe give him one or two more until one of the above demands his place. We have plenty of options. Going back to Lloyd will be a mistake.

Wasn't Garthwaite a forward originally, but due to circumstances was pushed to the backline. If so it may be prudent to try him as a forward in the VFL.

Another good option. He too, doesn't look ready yet but who knows what the season will bring.

Kamdyn? Decent mark and holds his feet in contests.

Was just about to post this. Did he.play VFL on the weekend?

Need to try him as a forward

Not a bad way to make your name in the AFL as a third marking option up forward

Trouble is this role often means you only get a few chances each game to make your mark on the scoreboard.

I am not sure that kmac is a true with his set shots on goal - whereas Lennon and Lloyd are.

fair point. I guess you'd want him to be a high half foward.

Lloyd should probably be in the side as well. He is best 22 IMO.

Didn't play on the weekend. But has played back in other games so far.

We know what Lloyd brings to the team, maybe they're giving Blenny a chance to show what he can offer before they make a decision on him at the end of the season.

He's the last person to actually show something.

If you repeat something on PRE enough times does it actually become true? Or is PRE actually the real world and the real world just a fan forum where all is not as it seems?

I keep hearing Lloyd is underperforming in the VFL on one hand and on the other that he had 26 possessions? Both can't be true, make your minds up people!

Anyway, in what I actually believe is the real world Lloyd kicks just as well, runs about the same slow pace, but can actually take a mark overhead and find the ball more than a few times. It's an easy choice for me.

The best game I saw Lennon play, was in a quagmire.

when it pissed down saturday, I thought, here is his chance. It slows the game right down to his pace.

but nuh. he wadded about and fell over a few times.

I dont think hes good enough for AFL footy.

interesting story on Sam mitchell in the Age today.

a bit about being slow, but quick.

he comes last in a 20m straight sprint, but first over the same distance when weaving in and out of cones.

he said Im slow, but quick.

Lennon is slow, and slow.
