Ben Lennon

Maybe one thing he has over Lloyd at selection time is a bit more size , we are already very small down forward , could it be a balance thing ?

Got the sneaky feeling he'll kick a bag against Brisbane if selected.
Been thinking that, could it be the confidence boost he needs? or is it just what he should be doing if his any good and we are just wasting games on him. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think his up to it, we need a Le Crar type in his role an size, Lloyd is a poor mans Le Crar imho so I'd go with Lloyd over Lennon , unless we go down a different type of player path.

Either way Lennon has to start kicking and contributing to more goals that aren't just in the goal square.

He's hanging in there, but will have to start applying a bit of pressure on the scoreboard with a few more goals to his name if he is to remain a permanent fixture in the team.

I thought he was pretty good yesterday. Not a heap of touches but good pressure, decision making etc. If everyone puts on good pressure and makes good decisions every week; we'll win every game.

We need him kicking goals against the best sides. He's really struggling to make an impact on most contests. At best breaking even.

Confidence player, Tooheys.

Let's get that sorted first.

This guy is really stinking it up. Must be on knife-edge for relegation to the VFL this week.

He's dined out a long time on a handful of goals from 6 games in 2015 - more vibrancy required Ben.

Thought he's defensive side has improved heaps. Offers more defense than Lloyd has this JLT and season so far.

I'd keep him until he drops off competing.

Needs more on the scoreboard though no doubt.

Lennon not really showing enough at the moment, but we are in critical need of a natural forward who can run and jump at the ball.

At this stage, that particular cupboard is very bare. Half a can of beans and a soy sauce packet bare.

It's either Lennon or Lloyd, and Lloyd is not doing enough at VFL to earn a call up.

Other options are Chol, Soldo... I dunno, neither of them are natural forwards either.

We could potentially play Astbury forward, but we're robbing Alex to pay Jack there.

At this stage Lennon stays where he is, and we hope like hell he starts to hit the scoreboard. We know he can do it at the lower level. Needs time, and critically, confidence. He'll be a different player when he knows he belongs.

Actually thought he competed ok.
The context is it's Lennon and he hasn't competed strongly before this year.
So to see him being physical and putting his body in, and do the occasional pressure act, is a definitive change and good progression.
I know his stats won't look flattering but I think he is improving.
Like we have seen this year with Conca, continuity is important.
I would persevere.

Yep.

Didn't have much of it yesterday, but it was pretty ordinary in our forward half in the first two qtrs and pissing rain n scrambling most of the second half of the game. Did notice that Ben got to a few air balls in the second half n while it was a dirty period for contested marking he was making the contests n trying to bring the ball to ground for our ground ball midgets. Apart from Dusty, there hasn't really been anything standout in our forward half so far. There's simply been a lot of hard work n scramble n chaos, with a whole bunch of players chipping in at moments. Reckon he did enough work to get another run against Brisvegas.

Watched him closely yesterday. Dropped two overhead marks before the rain, but kept trying. The problem is the forwards need to be able to win a genuine footrace when it goes over the back of a contest. If he drops his marks, he is out of the contest. I just don't see him as having the athleticism to play the half forward role.

I agree, rensman. He was working.

His legs just can't get him close enough to get the ball.

Line ball to keep his spot IMO.

This. As usual.

He is having a dip, energy and effort is there.

That is not. And will never be his issue.

He is just so slow, nonathletic, has no step, no leap and is now not clean overhead. Thus is dismissed from the contest.

Broken record for years now - Cannot and Will Not make it because of that.

Get Lloyd in before it costs us then delist him.

It is odd that you are sticking with Lennon but writing off McIntosh.

Can only be stubborness.

Lennon actually is the poster boy for everything Scoop (rightly) knocks our recruiting for.

Yet actually likes him.

So posters keep spruiking this guy has assets to offer; a confidence player, good mark and kick (but no pace or athleticism).

But can't even hold a mark. Just cannot see how he can get the ball then, unless hit on the teat by a team-mate. This spells passenger - even tackles poorly; gives away frees. Why does he deserve a game over Lloyd, Chol or even try Cal Moore?

Generally I think leg speed is a bit over rated by a lot of people but by god Lennon is bloody slow.

Not going to write him off just yet but he needs to pull his finger out big time. I just don't get how some players are literally playin to save their AFL career and still just cruise around like they don't have a care in the world.

Compare that to guys like George or even Lambert who are absolutely manic. They play like they understand each game could be their last.
