I thought he was pretty good yesterday. Not a heap of touches but good pressure, decision making etc. If everyone puts on good pressure and makes good decisions every week; we'll win every game.

After watching the replay I thought he was pretty ineffectual. 8 disposals and only 7 pressure acts (bottom 3, only Caddy and Elton had less - 5 and 6). A lot of his attempted tackles look like he doesn't want to get hurt, they are half-hearted and he would also pull out a bit going for the hard ball when there were a few around. I think he plays a bit scared. He should get a few more games to see if he can turn it around but he doesn't fit the mould of what we're trying to create int he forward line, that being manic pressure. If he was a gun goal sneak he could get away with this but he's not.

Thought he's defensive side has improved heaps. Offers more defense than Lloyd has this JLT and season so far.

Forget JLT. Stats of real games show Lloydy last year has better stats in almost every department compared to Lennon this year. His presence was almost non-existent yesterday and he needs to improve a lot otherwise it would be unjustified not to give Lloyd back his spot.

Generally I think leg speed is a bit over rated by a lot of people but by god Lennon is bloody slow.

Not going to write him off just yet but he needs to pull his finger out big time. I just don't get how some players are literally playin to save their AFL career and still just cruise around like they don't have a care in the world.

Compare that to guys like George or even Lambert who are absolutely manic. They play like they understand each game could be their last.
Dunno. Reckon he is trying his guts out and seems to have overcome the sads but it seems likely he doesn't excel in multiple areas of the game (think he is a very nice kick and that is about it)

How much worse off would we be trying Markov in the same role?

I'd bring Lloyd back.

The way the year is going so far we need to get our best 22 out there. Blooding kids can wait.

Needs to kick goals , otherwise what does he offer that others cant

Fair enough. Also Oleg's VFL form disappointingly hasn't yet warranted a promotion. However I'd like to see him tried forward at that level with a view to a snr spot.

So posters keep spruiking this guy has assets to offer; a confidence player, good mark and kick (but no pace or athleticism).

But can't even hold a mark. Just cannot see how he can get the ball then, unless hit on the teat by a team-mate. This spells passenger - even tackles poorly; gives away frees. Why does he deserve a game over Lloyd, Chol or even try Cal Moore?

he's normally a very, very good mark Leon.

He's probably saved by a lack of competition for his role. Lloyd out of form and looks like being played midfield in the 2s. Stengle and Bolton more crumbing options rather than medium marking forward.

Who else? Maybe Callum Moore but he is a taller option. Can we turn Townsend into an exclusive forward? Turn Garthwaite or Batchelor into medium forwards?

So we keep hearing. But he's dropped just about every one he has gone for this year.

Massively limited footballer.

He is 21.

He's a creative user of the ball, a good kick, has good hands, and has natural forward instincts. He has some athletic limitations, but he can leap. He's playing poorly at the moment, but there is literally nobody pushing him out.

As much as he's becoming a whipping boy (for our wins? I guess we Richmond supporters just can't avoid flagellation) there's no detriment to playing him right now. We're pumping time and real development into a kid who has shown a fair bit at reserves level, to hopefully get the maximum out of whatever potential he's got.

Maybe it comes to nothing, but at least we're actually giving him a chance to pick up the speed of the firsts.

Having said that, as soon as Lloyd, or Chol or even Moore gives us something at the reserves, one of them comes in. But not before.

What's with the double touches before he marks a ball. I've lost count how many times the defender has knocked the ball away as soon he attempts to grap it for the 2nd time..
You can't play him and caddy up forward. Both can't take a contested mark and soon the ball hits the ground they are slow

Well Sammy Lloyd got dropped after 1 poor game and went back to the reserves (How did he go on Saturday?) and thats after a very good 2016. So I'm not sure Lennon after a couple of ordinary games deserves a spot before Sammy.

I would normally agree Tim. But the reason Lennon came in that week is because he kicked 7 goals at reserve level.

But I've been at punt road the last couple of weeks, and Lloyd is struggling, he doesn't even look effective at VFL level. Hopefully Lloyd has a good game, and pushes an underperforming Lennon out.

On their respective form at the moment, I'd go youth.

True, but at least Lennon has had some big impact at reserves level this year. And for the first time in his career.

Our forward depth is a massive worry. I actually think it's a concern on field, let alone within the list. Our kpp stocks are extremely thin.

Tigers of Old said:
Our depth must be extremely poor then. I don't buy that argument.

Can I ask, assuming Chol and Lloyd are playing poorly at VFL level, who would you bring in for Lennon?

I guess there's an argument to go Miles for Lennon, and rearrange, but that's a hit to the structure.

I'm assuming Griff replaces Elton.

I can't see him been able to be reinvented either, limited as a slow heavy forward I think.

Lloyds the obvious upgrade , however with the size of our forward line id be looking at Chol as he will compete a lot better in the air and should create more ground balls for our fleet of smalls an obviously can pinch hit in the ruck, I think Chols less then 10 touches can be a much better game then Lennons or Eltons
