the problem is that the game plan doesn't allow you develop your game unless you are a contested ball machine......

Or like to kick the ball towards the boundary line at all costs. Stoppages via the boundary... gotta win em all.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Hated those efforts he squibbed. To be fair the Kangas were smashing us to pieces and it probably shook him up a bit.

However he shouldn't be dropped. Getting as many games as possible into him this year will be invaluable for next year.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Needs to beef up, to stop getting turfed in one on one contests.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

no way should he go back! keep him in the ones for the rest of the year.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

It's pretty hard for a young fella to adapt to the pace of AFL, let alone when the opposition has a massive run on more than half way through a game.

He needs time to learn and adjust - you can't expect a guy to do that and pact in his first dozen games let alone fourth.

Leave him alone, put on a HFF and let him get into the game.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Play the kid, as a sub if need be. Definitely has massive potential. Let him play ( like miles, madonna), and not be to critical on him this season. Nothing to lose now.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

I too saw those couple of contests on Sunday.

I really hope he's not a squib.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Have seen him play five games this year... nothing so far.

Was pretty good against the Dees and Giants I thought. Hard for him to stand out vs Norf when the whole team was a steaming *smile* in the second half, when he came on.

Yeah he should be winning the Coleman by now. are we there yet?

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

I've seen enough of Ben Lennon at both levels to suggest that courage isn't a issue. A couple of times he has actually gone back with the flight. Brave stuff indeed.

What I've seen so far of Lennon at AFL level is a boy who doesn't want to get in the way of team mates or overstep his bounds with senior teammates. Trying to play polite football. This needs to be whipped out of him. Maybe its confidence. Maybe its learning. Regardless, he needs to be coached to take control today, don't wait for others to get it and then help. Be the one making the play.

As far as footballing packages go, this boy has just about everything you want from a modern day footballer. Needs time. But this is a non-issue.

pretty normal.

I think it was his second game, he showcased his elite decision making and kicking skills under pressure. dropped it in Jacks lap a couple of times.

expectations about everything are way too high these days.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

My concern with Lennon is I'm not sure what he is.

Is he a tall mid? A small marking forward? A half back?

I dont see these guys play juniors, but where did he play his under 18 footy?

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

nathan brown IMO. Miles is more mark coghlan than mark coghlan

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

You can't mark him in this team
Would've been nice to see him last year
Give him time

Is it just me or he does move at Knobel-like speeds?

Generally played HF, with runs on the ball.

Like to see him develop as a mobile, marking, medium HF.

If he doesn't develop as a goal-kicking option, a HBF will probably be his position.

You don't use first picks on half forwards. Midfielders, key position players are first rounders.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Hardwick will drop him this week.
