Ben Lennon

To a lesser extent Corey Ellis is another in that bracket of concern for similar reasons Gyps.
I'm most skeptical about him, Leysy. Hopefully he gets some continuity next year and we can see the best of him with no setbacks.

I am not saying he is a star Leysy but he has more than a nice kick. He has a very nice set of hands on him, takes the ball out in front on the lead in the manner of Deledio who has hands like a steel trap. He also has a smell for the goals, scrounges them because he has really good goal sense.

As i said i am not talking him up as a star or defending him as a pick but he has more than just a good hoof.

People keep banging on he has a sense of goals... the guy who says this the best is Timmy cahill... for RFC id say Lloyd has such a gift.. Not Lennon!!

Whats the most he has ever kicked own a 22 game or 18-20 game season ever??? i don't see him as a Timmy cahill or a Lloyd!

I have seen him kick some goals at both vfl and afl level that are just instinctive that's all I am saying. In his "purple-ish" patch of form in late 2015 he kicked a few that were very nice instinctive goals.

I am not defending him necessarily just saying that this view that all he can do is kick nicely is not quite true and is laced with a bit of hyperbole.

Wasn't having a crack Sin just don't see it mate, yes he has some talent however i don't think he has amazing goal sense, nice kick and ok hands and thats it for me

Looks like, the way things seem to be panning out in the trade period, RFC is stuck with Lennon for next season, so let's hope he puts in a blinder of a pre-season.

Yes wish him well in the forward line next year. Should play as our 3rd tall for mine.

True mate, he does have a nice pair of hands.

The point doubles though, country leagues are flush with guys who can one grab and kick well. Lids would lave him 5m in his wake over 10m for instance.

He'll make very good coin in years to come. Will kick bags.

The big league needs far more than that.

Leysy's posts will show that for years have never been for confident of a player not having what it takes.

Wish was wrong.

He's definitely got some talent, no question. Keep him in the forward line he could be very dangerous. He's a great Mark, and a good kick.

He's not getting a game ahead of Lloyd & rightly we won't carry both up forward in an era where you also need to be able to play on ball.

Correct as usual Gyps.

Lennons biggest issue has never been his mindset. It's actually the physical traits he has.i.e very slow top end speed combined with no agility nor leap with his in between height.

Being a nice kick isn't enough. He was always up against it to make it.

Its a recipe for disaster and the pick is the poster boy for all that has been wrong with our drafting.

And finding some athletic ability where none previously existed is really difficult. BL would need to do some serious specific training to turn things around but changing a persons natural running style is next to impossible and if you look at Ben he has very little elasticity in his stride, very flat foot and heavy legs. I would be putting him on a sprint program with all the drills they do. this would be the only we he could reprogram himself.

The other thing he would need to do is drop around 4kgs and make it easier to get around the ground, especially for one with such poor endurance.

Lennon's manager Anthony McConville saying there has been little interest in him from other clubs and that a trade is a long shot.

Two things out of this:

AFL clubs obviously don't have anything like the same opinion of Ben as he does of himself (must be quite a blow to the ego);

Another big cross to our recruiters when we draft a player at no.12 and 3 years later he's worth virtually nothing on the open market.

Awesome Francis :clap (but can you stay on as a consultant; please?)

Especially when Collingwood got a first rounder for a bloke that hasn't even played a game.

Freeman not playing a game worked in Collingwood's favour.

Freeman? Collingwood gave up pick 10 then traded him to the saints for this years 2nd rounder, pick 23 ish

I'm not a fan but surely a club takes a punt on him, be great if he could be the steak knife to get one of the bigger deals done or a pick around 40

If we got pick 33 for Lennon I would be happy.
23 in this draft its a very good pick to have

Herald Sun "lemon still looking for way out"
Get rid of this *smile*. Played 2 games and thinks his Ronald Barassi. Fat Ass

Funniest/saddest part is Lennon spent months training with RFC as an AIS 'intern' at Punt Road in his draft year.
Still couldn't work out he was lazy, slow, soft and has a *smile* attitude, right under our noses.
