Ben Lennon

Maybe all this recent hooha might be the making of Lennon.
He doesn't seem to have attracted much interest from rival clubs, so maybe he might realise he just has to put his head down and grind out a really hard and consistent pre-season.
I do believe he has skills and talent, but he really needs to give his noggin a bit of knock and realsie that maybe he was getting a little ahead of himself.

I know I've laboured the point and apologies for that, but anyone who watches the last Q against Geelong, regardless of fitness, would not want to pay much for Ben.

Yep

Understand the Conca 2 year deal now. Makes perfect sense.

But seriously, what a woe is me mindset/article. He's had half the obstacles many AFL players face.

Such courage - Not.

Yep

I agree with that. The article only makes Lennon look desperate amidst the realisation that no one thinks he's anywhere near as good as he thinks he is.

Just been upgraded to FIRGJAM.

Thanks Ben.
What an insipid article. Oh whoa is me...he just needs to get on the training ground and put in the way that he claims he is now doing. I'm so sick of hearing these dweebs whinge about the coach doesnt play me in my preferred position, and I dont agree with the game plan and blah, blah, blah. Same goes for Vickery and B. Ellis isn't far off the same attitude.

So he must put these things in place..like a sprint coach blah blah blah.

FFS give me a break, perhaps he is realising that he ain't the hot property he thought he was.

This story's as old as Moses. VFL/AFL history is littered with this tale. The kid's 21. He's no doubt been the best player in his teams since the under 8s. Told by all the junior coaches and all the other kids' dads that he's going to be a star one day. Wins all the club b&f's as a junior. By 14, he's strutting around the local footy club like a rock star with giggling teenage girls following. Every junior footy club has that kid. They're the best and most popular in their little corner of the universe and their personality is shaped accordingly. First round draft pick in the big league. He's made it, just like everyone's always told him he would. Struts into the footy club in the first year thinking about Brownlows. Cops a few early injuries. He's not the best kid in the team anymore. Not used to that. Doesn't accept or understand that hard work makes you a superstar, not natural ability alone. He's never had to work hard. Told by the coaches he's not up to it. All the coaches before that have always told him what a star he is. That's not how the story's supposed to go. Add to that mix the narcissistic generation he's a member of and articles like that get written.

He'll look back at that article in 10 years time and be very embarrassed.

Spot on TT. Epiphany moment required for Ben. Not rocket science. Soft option will be to glide to another club and continue to do what he has been doing over the last 2-3 yrs. Harder option is to knuckle down and earn the respect of teammates by working harder than anyone else

Or he'll look back in ten years sooking about tall poppy syndrome and not being given opportunities to shine. Victim of coach preference and crappy clubs who don't know anything. It's hard to rationalise that he would believe he would be attractive to other clubs with his minimal output to date. If he was half smart he would go out burn up the training track, knock em dead next year and then shop himself around.

This bloke is mightily talented and could be an A grader anyone that doesn't see it doesn't go to the matches. Looks like his body is getting right and so is his head. Under the new coaches he will blossom if given the opportunity. Dimma has lots to answer for almost destroying Lennon and B Ellis who also should be borderline A grader

Rubbish. He may be talented (not mightily) but he has a sh!t attitude and is lazy. Massive dose of self entitlement.

And yeah I go to matches. Unfortunately I was at the Geelong match. If you weren't at that match maybe have a look at Ben's last quarter.

Did. Not. Put. In.

No argument on Hardwick by the way but Ben Lennon is miles off making it as an AFL footballer.

So far you are correct, no argument with that.

The world is littered with young people who waste talent and then the penny drops, it's called maturity. I have no idea whether the penny has dropped for Ben but I hope so. The first step always in recognising the issue but then he has to do something about it.

I am all for giving young people chances because I recognise some of the things they do in myself when I was their age. That is not just about footy but in lots of areas.

If he wants to stay and the club wants to give him a chance then it's ok by me if he is sincere in what he says. He has only one more chance though.

In agreeance. I'm no bright sider but the vitriol for BL is OTT in my opinion. I'd rather read he's working hard than read he's playing Xbox and sitting on the beach partying with his mates.

Yeah. I’ve never seen bloke get slapped more for less. Ig he does four sessions a week for the three months off he’ll come back fitter and fresher than he ever has. Has never had a clean preseason. The glandular thing shouldn’t not be under estimated. Took me four months just to feel like I could work a normal day in a office. Imagine trying to recover and play AFL, with no preseason and glandular.
