Ben Lennon

I just find it odd that he says he wants stability. Isn't he contracted for 2017 with us? That's stable isn't it?

He might mean continuity which he doesn't get with Dimmer.

Pretty cringeworthy article. Needs a better man manager than 'round pegs" Hardwick to get him playing to his potential.

Personally I think it just shows how immature these guys are and if I remember back to odd years ago when I was that age I was also, so I can understand. In saying that the difference now is the level of professionalism, fitness, money, social media etc, they really need to be better characters or better prepared, more determined etc..

As for Ben I think he has the talent unfortunately I don't think he will make it for many reasons in the article including being smashed doing a once a week sprinting drill, heck 5 years ago as a very average ironman I was doing this 3 times a week and running a decent size business, you do that for yourself, he should be doing more IMO

"The other day I was asked what I offer a team and my response was “vibrancy.” "

I thought "Laughs" would have been just as good.

Made me laugh Seven. Thanks !

Seriously let's hope he has realised that next year is it or bust!

His ego would have been dented that no other club has come calling.

If it's correct the steps he is taking to improve are correct than it comes down to him.

Want it bad enough Ben and you might just make it. Talent is there, it's the work ethic and application that sets you apart.

Over to you!

The entire article is ego driven.

Harsh realisation that he is not in demand as much as he thought he would be, not as highly rated internally or externally as he assumed he was, and now feels compelled to write an article telling the footballing community that "hey, I'm talented, don't forget about me, I'll do the hard work like every other afl footballer should do"

Figjam

You'd have to assume his manager approved that piece. Would explain the odd decisions and posturing throughout his short but forgettable stint as an AFL player so far

Article was designed to flush out a bid from clubs that had previously told him they were interested.

Good for us, don't fuss.

You reckon clubs will fall for that twaddle?

"Oh look at me I'm working so hard. I'm even doing sprints!! I haven't given up in 3 years (if you don't count my last quarter against Geelong)."

Unfortunately for young Figgy there's only one RFC in the AFL.

It still doesn't hurt us.
Makes any coming white-anting from other clubs to our players a load of crap.
Say next year Carlton or Essendon come sniffing around Dusty. The club can just say "Hey Dusty, just look at how they treated Ben. They're talking crap."

I agree with that. The article only makes Lennon look desperate amidst the realisation that no one thinks he's anywhere near as good as he thinks he is.

or more importantly, as good as he was TOLD HE WAS.

"Vibrancy"? Ben is really desperate. Why should you pick me? "Well it's the law, the constitution, it's Mabo... it's the VIBE!!:"

This is what you get when your weekly team selection is based on favourites and not form.
From my perspective over the last 30 years this is how we have picked teams.
I still remember Joel Bowden's comments after he was eventually dropped from the seniors "That was a kick in the pants... I never want to kick the dew of the ground again" and he didn't... the back end of his career was his best.
Tambling, Griffiths, Daffy, Pettifer... no it hurts too much to name all 512 of them... but you get my drift.
But what it does when you reward consistent mediocrity in the seniors with another match is those who perform well in the 2nds get disenchanted and see no reward for effort as they don't get their chance when they are performing well.
Take the Hawks... if you are in the 2nds you know that everyone is contributing in the seniors and not because there are list cloggers getting unwarranted senior games.
So when Ben Lennon was dropped for an unfit and out of form Ben Griffiths in our last final appearance (after BL had shown good form in the games previously) WTF do you think BL thinks of the club and team selection. It's sh!te... that's what he thinks. I hope he goes gangbusters elsewhere. And what did BG give us in that match... the very same sh!te as he had shown all year long - but we have rewarded that mediocrity with another contract! WTF. Name 3 games in a row he has imposed himself - you can't.
When will we learn :(

Lennon has written a plea for clubs to take a chance on him.

I'm a little bit lost at that... quite a different/approach.

Still think he has talent. And the penny might have dropped.

Understand the Conca 2 year deal now. Makes perfect sense.

But seriously, what a woe is me mindset/article. He's had half the obstacles many AFL players face.

Such courage - Not.
I agree that article sums up his pathetic 'woe is me' attitude and his desperate plea to have us believe that he is now working harder and will do better on field in the future. Why should anyone trust him? It's just words and promises that mean nothing. So the best he can offer a team is 'vibrancy'...really? The noun vibrancy comes from the adjective vibrant, which means "strong and resonating" or "full of enthusiasm and energy." So when has he demonstrated any of that? None of it on show in that game against Geelong that's for sure. He really is very immature with an inflated idea of his own ability and I'd say he needs a new manager who can advise him better than to put out such a pathetic article and expect it to work in his favour. It doesn't.

This bloke is mightily talented and could be an A grader anyone that doesn't see it doesn't go to the matches. Looks like his body is getting right and so is his head. Under the new coaches he will blossom if given the opportunity. Dimma has lots to answer for almost destroying Lennon and B Ellis who also should be borderline A grader
