Or maybe a situation where a kid thinks he's ten times better than he is and point blank refuses to do the hard yards.
Picks and chooses when he's gunna go and not gunna go and whines when he doesn't get games served up on a plate.

This guy can kick and take a mark, gets round the park like my granny in a wheel chair and is soft.

Poor recruiting is one thing, superiority complex and sense of intitlement is another thing all together.

My nana would have been better in the last Q in the Geelong game (but to be fair, she was pretty strong and nimble, chopped all her own wood and played tennis into her 70s). Yeah, it seems he's a spoilt softy, so why wasn't that picked up in our alleged character-based recruiting?

Keep him if we can't get a decent return. A new batch of assistant coaches might be the tonic he needs to turn himself around.

Interesting video from when he was a youngster.

Says some nice stuff- and shows he's definitely got ability.

We certainly know how to ruin em at Richmond.

Here's some more.

Reckon his ego has been dismantled.
Would be ecstatic to see us trade him for a late final round pick.

So many psychological warriors on PRE at the moment. People who can look into a players mental makeup and write them off from these observations.

I find it interesting that so many of our players have failed to develop let alone surpass expectation yet some can still ignore the vagaries of the way our players are managed.

There has been no clear boundary on what you need to continue to do to get a solid run in the firsts once the breakthrough has been made. To have a good game in the firsts then be slapped down by another player who does "something" the coaches want in the seconds and replaced by Mondays training run.

Lets see if a change in management philosophy cannot get a player to appear a little more mentality tougher. It cannot hurt to try.
I agree and the introduction of Balme and Caracella needs to be allowed to have an effect on the attitude of the list

Another example of non-existent/poor/lack of junior player development.

When you having a coach and his assistants who prefer hacks like Hunt, Moore, etc, then you get exactly the
situation you have at Punt Road.
Could even be a process where the coaches prefer an average player who works his valve off trying to achieve the very best he can versus a talented player who the coaches might believe doesn't try very hard.

What was that comment of Barrassi's year ago when he was ranting at some Norf players? You show me some effort n I'll shut up, or something similar to this. There's always been plenty of talented players fall by the wayside at AFL level simply because they can't or won't work hard enough to maximise their talent.

Perhaps the club should have traded Ben last year when the opportunity arose, not sure who instigated the process last year, but for Ben to hold out signing a new deal last year n then be asking for a trade out this year when he's achieved the grand total of career SFA has whiskers on it as far as I'm concerned.
Give me a Hunt or Morris busting his proverbials any day over a prima donna swanning about the place.

How do you know he whines when he doesn't get games served up..?

I think it's amazing that so many people seem to know Ben Lennon on this site. There are a lot of people who appear very sure about what his character and personality is ::)

with respect sin, footy is brutal. Everything is scrutinised and exposed in a highly competive world, thats why we love it. based upon what I've seen on-field, how he has acted contract/ trade-wise, and all before he has earned his stripes, well he hasn't stamped himself as a future inspirational leader lets put it that way.

Mate Ill defend all and sundry to the Nth degree, but this guy has looked lazy, Vickery like since he walked in the door.

It was mentioned in one of the AFL that Richmond doesn't think he's worked hard enough to succeed.

Still speculation, but at least it links it to the club.

I have met Tyrone vickery a couple of times at club functions and he seemed a terrific young man to me. Not a great fan on the field but that's not what I am talking about.

I am talking about personality and character. We don't really know these kids, we just see snippets and to be honest I find some of the comments about individuals a bit distasteful at times.

I don't know Ben Lennon, never met him. He is a kid, maybe he just has some growing up to do. Plenty of us were pretty brash at 21.

Not many of us were on the coin he's on just to play footy either.

No. some handle it and some don't. Heard an interview with Dane Swan yesterday and he was the first to admit he was hard to handle at 21 and grew up on the journey. Probably Ben Lennon will as well.

Agree sin. Where is the evidence that Lennon is egotistical or whatever other labels he's been given about being a FIGJAM.?
