Ben Lennon

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

I think he could be a Stevie j/ Nathan brown type... That smart classy medium forward with a bit of freak to go with it...we have sorely missed a player of that style

Oh and before people get on here being silly... I said Stevie j/ brown TYPE if his half as good as them I'll be wrapt!

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Spoke to a mate of mine who has done a lot of work with the Northern Knights over number of years and reckons Lennon could have / should have gone higher in the draft. His only knock was his fitness which he never really needed to work at given his high level of skill. Lennon is a natural footballer with a great footy brain. Apparently he played a couple of games with the Knights 3 seasons back at the end of the season as a 16 year old (where most are in 17 - 18 bracket) ...just to give him a taste...and booted 4 goals in both those games.

Thanks for sharing strachanie. Sounds good. :)

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

I heard somewhere a while back (can't remember where) that he also kicked something like 4 goals in our pre-season hit out against Hawthorn last year. Can anyone verify?

Was a standout amongst all the AIS boys, including Salem who started well but faded out. As as been mentioned before, Lennon was playing injured for most of the season, his ankle swollen and his agility clearly hampered. The fact we picked him up outside the top ten is quite remarkable considering he was rated top five at various stages throughout the year. Sometimes the draft camp can be a red herring, and I suspect Richmond has been dealt a very favourable hand on this occasion.

We have come a long way from the 68kg, "he'll be right in 5 year ", types, with only McBean having the arms of my 4yo son. Must be a huge benefit to be able to come in from game 1 and crash and bash and stand up to the big boys.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Geez... he sure is looking ready to play! Much awesomeness *runs off to change supercoach team*...

Fiora, King (form Collingwood), Bourke, Troy Taylor, Nahas, Nason, and probably another dozen or so who never got a game.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

I've got a feeling we'll be using Lennon in defense a lot more than attack, partly to free up floss for a mid field role, and partly because i think we'll be trying to use his foot skills to set up meaningful scoring chains from the back half.
That isn't necessarily what i want but what i think will happen. We've also recruited a number of other mid to smaller forwards competing for the same forward berth.

Tend to agree, Frickenel. Lennon's kicking skills will be a prominent reason for this initial move to the back half. However, given that I am predicting he will eventually be a top flight player, Lennon will make his move forward at some point and will, with the benefit of learning the defensive side of the game, be a key component of the attack.
I am looking forward to a stellar career from Lennon. We've got a champion in the making here.

I believe the masses settled for Bertie.

Derived from Bertie Beetle - giving him links to John Lennon and Bert Newton (when recruited his hairstyle resembled newtons hair piece)

Good Luck Bertie. Make a hero of yourself son.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Haven't seen any footage really of Lennon although read a bit, is it possible he somewhat tanked last year or wasn't willing to do the hard work, yet still finished All Australian, thought crossed my mind when i read that he trained with us and the players loved him and all voted we pick him up etc, that perhaps Tigers somewhat guarenteed him a draft pick but knew we would slide due to our higher finish position, so perhaps he didn't go nuts as he could to slide down..???. maybe im just to passionate and reading to much into it, seems strange though given the fact he seems to have trained like an animal with us and he's pictures look like he's lived in the gym and all reports are he's flying......
