Ben Lennon

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

There's no doubt there is mutual admiration between Lennon and the established players. He impressed all and sundry during his brief tenure at the Club last year.
Of course there were no guarantees come draft time that RFC would be able to call bis number and name out at the draft, but thankfully the cards fell the way of both the Tigers and Lennon.
I can feel it in my bones that he will be a great player for the Tigers.

Haven't seen any footage really of Lennon although read a bit, is it possible he somewhat tanked last year or wasn't willing to do the hard work, yet still finished All Australian, thought crossed my mind when i read that he trained with us and the players loved him and all voted we pick him up etc, that perhaps Tigers somewhat guarenteed him a draft pick but knew we would slide due to our higher finish position, so perhaps he didn't go nuts as he could to slide down..???. maybe im just to passionate and reading to much into it, seems strange though given the fact he seems to have trained like an animal with us and he's pictures look like he's lived in the gym and all reports are he's flying......

go to richmondfc website and there's a lot of footage in the draft special part 2

The draft camp results saw him drop a few rungs, particularly his really poor agility scores, but Lennon had been battling an ankle injury which went some way to explaining his lumbering ruckman times. Collingwood were seriously interested but fortunately went for the guy who blitzed in the running events. It was a classic case of footballer versus athlete, and I think we were dealt a favourable hand. Freeman's certainly at the right place to fine tune his skills but I think the RFC can be well pleased we secured a footballer first and foremost. Others like Flossy and Conca have never been athletic freaks but haven't missed a beat. Bertie will be no different.

He's a confident lad. Looking forward to seeing what he can do on field.

And appears very mature and down to earth for his age.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Good thing about where we are at as a Football Club is that Ben doesn't have to be played before he's ready, and he's won't have the expectations to lift the club on his own as others have had.

Agree with you, Ainfield.
But when he starts hitting Jack and Vickery lace-out with some pinpoint passes we will see the Tigers have a budding champion in the making.

Can't see this kid having the same impact that big V did last year, but hopefully he turns out as good as Ellis or Big V.
We have done really well.

Lennon may not have the same physical impact that V had, but i am confident the attributes he will bring to the team will nevertheless be highly regarded.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Just watched the footage, had to wait as the VPN in China was still to slow to watch.. Gee he looks good, pretty down to earth kid.. Seeing the recent trainng photos he looks like he has put on a heap of muscle, so the step up in training could allow allot of room for improvement that perhaps a Billings may not have... He definitely meets a need we have, i think he will play very early if not round one! probably take longer than Vlas and Ellis as he didn't come in with the aerobic capacity that they had.. Exciting times, i think we've got another ripper!!

I agree there Zips. I think he will go well, but not sure he can top the big V. Tyrone was very handy last year. I know you're a big fan!

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

I think our depth will restrict his game time this season. Great kid, although all three were in that doco, hopefully he gets a chance.

Not a great start it must be said.

Would have preferred him playing in the fwd pocket all game.

Looked a little lost in defence.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Suffered from a few nerves out there but still managed to show a few good signs, should get much better when the fitness comes.

Totally. Not many have the impact Vlastuin had last year, just need a bit of patience.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Not quite ready but is very classy. Will play a few games but 2015 will become a regular.
