Ben Cousins a Tiger (Merged)

I thought Terry made an interesting point at the press con today,

He spoke how alot of clubs initially may have been scared off by the image associated with Cousins , and how they probably did'nt want that image , associated with their clubs,

And about the timing, and how the general public opinion of Cousins appears to have softened just recently, almost in perfect timing with us recruiting him.

A matter of opinion, he posed a valid question. People are carrying on like it's some amazing coup but the fact remains no other club wanted him. Either we know something that the others don't or we are desperate enough not to care. Time will tell...
here here. anyways the good fight has been lost. i personally look t it as a short term fix which will hurt us long term. in saying this having lost the fight let me say welcome ben cousins you will have my support for as long as you do the right thing.

as for those in charge what a rabble.

I appreciate your support for Cousins. But please name one way how this will hurt the club going forward.

You *smile* little beuaty, well done to the RFC for having the guts to back this bloke in and give him a go. Did you see the smile on his face on the news when he was at the airport, good on you Cous.

There again I would have a smile on my face if I was flying out of this *smile* hole too. I was surprised we didnt pick Klemke he went very late didn't he. It just goes to show, none of those players were mentioned in any depth on most forums.... so do we have a clue....... I doubt it....... ::)

at this rate the Tambling thread might be under threat of being overtaken .... welcome to punt road ben , complete with his entourage ....
you little ripper !!!!!!!!!!!!

2009 Flag odds have shortened from $35 to $17 after the pick this morning.

If we merged all the thread Cousins threads would leave Tambo ones for dead. It's been too out of control to think about the last couple of days. It seems everyone wants their name up in lights as a thread starter rather than posting on existing threads.

Too true Rosy. I have made comment on this and it's a frustrating tactic on too many PRE posters part. There only needs to be 1 Cousins thread! Not the ridiculous dozen or more.

Precisely... if we threw everything out the door to get him then it sounds desperate.. all we did was add to a team already rising... if it doesn't work those same "risers!" will have to stand up.. and if they're already standing up how can this guy hurt us?

We aren't a premiership team yet, we weren't at 9:59a nor at 10:16a this morning... but maybe we are closer. I for one say we are.

Welcome Ben! Your song should be "Eye of the Tiger"
Risin Up
Back on the streets
Did my time
Took my chances
Went the distance
Now I'm back on my feet
Just a man
And his will to survive
It's the Eye of the Tiger...... :clap :clap

Ben, the 2 of us need look no more

I heard this on SEN earlier.

Amazing to think wacko sung this about a rat 40 years ago, yet prophetically sums up the luv 4 cuz today.

have always said that if things didn't go bens way in the cold light of day as any one who has made his mistakes he would have no on to blame but himself that is the cold hard facts of life.

as i have watched all this evolve i have said little to people around me but secretly i would luv for the cards to fall his way, i played it the same way today just to see the people i work with who would try to hang it on me for my love of the tiges, just be rapped that he was given a 2nd chance made me feel proud of our club. and for those who are bagging cc who nows what they were planning their not going to put it all out their.
Maybe they were seeing what they were trying to see what they could get with the afl also testing what everyone of us was thinking, maybe their could of been the same response against recruiting him, they got their answer and they new they could grab him with out backlash.

2 things I see out of this if Ben fires we will always be remembered as the club that had the courage to put our hand out and say common digger i wont leave u on your own' and if it dosn't then still the same except ben just didn,t appreciate the wonderfull 2nd chance he has been given

In Melbourne, it won't be just the new Tiger teammates, but also Judd to provide a good support for Cuz to overcome this 'drug addict' problem.

Not worthy of its own thread, even for a night apparently.
