Welcome Benny .... and bee-have yo'self! May your first game in the "yellow and black" ruin Fevola's day.

Sad sad day for the club when just as time was showing that our recruiting was improving we go and throw it all away.

For some reason we traded for Thomson and selected Hislop and have now taken another midfielder this one older and will take the place of one of our younger kids personally I can't see how that will help their development.

They'll just have to work harder for a spot. No harm in that.

The Cats manage to find spots for Yablett, Ling, Bartel, Corey, Enright, Kelly, Selwood and Chapman every week. They all play their part in the midfield, no matter where they're actually named. I can't see why the same can't be true for Richmond - Foley, Tuck, Deledio, Cotchin, Cousins, Thomson, Hislop and Tambling possibly comprising the prime group right now.

Still skeptical about this, but oh well. Welcome Ben. Hopefully you prove me wrong.

Cousins aside, I'm stoked with our drafting this year. Absolutely stoked. Vickery, Post, Hislop, Thomson, Nahas, Browne and Gilligan (plus Gourdis), that's some nice additions.

To say I am happy is an understatement - welcome to Ben Cousins!! :beer

I was so excited once I heard that I rang the membership line and purchased a 2nd adult membership for my Carlton flatmate for Christmas!! That's right - he is now a Tiger supporter whether he wants that or not and now Im calling tomorrow to sign up my cats >:D

I cannot believe today - after the club called Cousins - all of my colleagues clapped and were talking up the Tigers - you cant buy that exposure. My heart swelled as it does with anything Richmond does - but this time it felt different - it felt right - we gave someone a second chance :grouphug

Its nice to be this happy - better go before I cry :rubhead

He's a flawed genius, and I for one am proud of our great Club for giving hi a chance, I hope he grabs it with both hands.

I met CC today after the press conference and I shook his hand and said, "Thankyou to yourself and the board for giving him a chance, we the Members and supporters are wrapped with this"...he smiled back and said Thanks for that we are all pretty excited for the future.

:clap

i applaud rfc for taking a punt, for giving someone a second chance. i only wish my club had the gonads to make this call.
i'm rapt that we'll see ben cousins playing footy again. i just hope for his sake he grasps this opportunity and turns water into wine.

actually, by going and getting Thomson and Hislop we are actually getting guys drafted inside the top 20 of their draft pool who are still young enough to get 10 years out of and are old enough to be ready to play and fight for spots.  It's better than having guys like Tivendale, Hyde, and others who aren't going to take the club forward getting games cos they're the best around.  No disrespect to them, they gave their all, but now it's time for a new all.

Richmond over the last 3 years have been very shrewd with their trading.. getting people (like Polak who was just starting to deliver on the pick 4 promise) young enough to make something of it.  I just don't see how you can be critical of an opportunistic pick?  I didn't see you flooding the forums last year when we chose Gourdis with our PSD pick... at the end of the day he's our 35th player and if pushes Thomson or Hislop out it's their job to get back in.

Edit - Personal Abuse

Didn't say anything that over the top.. just can't stand the self-loathing critical richmond supporter any more.. it's time we stood proud rather than critical!

Cousins will have my support as long as he keeps on a straight line.

I thought it was the lines which got him into trouble in the first place

The big question is whether Cousins will be able to reproduce his "gut running" best now that has to pee in a bottle three times a week.
