I'd be hopeful we'd get 3 years out of Cousins, any less and it would be a waste. Do you think we should be in a position to challenge in 2011?

Not impossible but highly improbable (I really believe the impending retirements are going to devastate us). Morever Cousins would be 33 by the time our 'challenge' eventuated, and very likely well past his prime (and yes I know people will point to Richardson and Harvey who remained stars well into the 30's, but they are freaks and neither were/are drug addicts). Whatever way you look at it, Ben Cousins will not win us a premiership and could just as easily impart his knowledge in a coaching role as in a playing one (with far fewer risks involved).

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

so its okay for the rfc to put polak on the ltil to get cousins buts its not good enough to put him on the ltil to gain draft picks. sort of tells ya the mentality of the rabble footy club.. sheesh i remember just weeks ago arguing the merits of putting polhak where he belongs. where are those defenders of the ibeciles in charge now.
ive said it hundreds of times we have neve trulyu not once embraced a full on youth policy thru the use of the nd.

oh and just an aside . looking at people questioniong wce drug culture what culture i ask. they are no different to any other club and certainly no different to us. sheesh how naieve of ferals.theres one modern day maxim it seems . do it but dont get caught and all is okay. thats fine until it happens to you.culture or no wce certainly know how to embrace youth and it seems they get the timing right as well.

cousinds to richmond it makes us a rabble no matter which way you look at it. when will we ever get away from the quick fix, not in my lifetime it seems.

And a rabble of a post! :hihi

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

I can only assume that if we passed in the draft with a pick to spare, an extra pick wouldn't have been of much use in the ND.

Thought I'd stay topical. Hey, at least it's some relief from the Chimp avatars!
(Yes, I admit to putting "Ben Cousins, chimp" into google images and coming up short!)
Leave the chimp out of this ! if we get B.C then just maybe I might change my line of avatars (only joking chimpa, couldn't do it to ya, I have invested to much research time on chimpy stuff, enough for the next season me thinks at one per week !

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

I say about Ben Que Sera Sera

I don't want him, but I will barrack never the less

Polak without doubt should not be on the senior list. No negative on Polak, thats just how an organisation should run.

narrow sighted and foolish it seems the hood is easily pulled over the head of most rfc ferals.when will our supporters ever embrace the draft and thus pressure the club to do the same. people just arent being rational i suppose whats new.

You said you didn't want a drug addict at the club. For all we know, there might already be one, or two, or three. Just as the AFL didn't know Cousins was a drug addict for a long time, we may not know about other individuals. The AFL knows of players on one and two strikes - that's fact. Might one be at Richmond already? Who knows?

Let me rephrase it then & say I don't want a known drug addict at the club.

If Benny is indeed clean I would certainly like to hear it before we recruited him. I can't recall him saying it recently.

Other clubs have clearly been scared off for a reason. I certainly hope that if we are considering him that we'd be showing 'due dilligence' as much as others who have said thanks but no thanks.

Still plenty looking for the quick fix claw.

people talk about cousins being clean as if he can be fixed. it does not work that way. haes a drug addict he can regress at any time. very few ever overcome their addictions. thiose that do usuall y replace the addiction they have with another. cousins will regress even if he is seriously trying to overcome his problem which i doubt. he will regress for yrs to come you just dont snap your fingers and hey presto you have beaten the beast. the beast is within forever..its typical modernday thinking. theres a cure for everything unfortunately it just doesnt work that way. theres no cure and few find a way to manage their problem.

You underestimate the power of the Y&B.

i think that the thing that scared the Faints off was the Cousins attended the funeral of a certain crime figure recently.Up untill then they were pretty much going to take him, so if the saints were that close i am again presuming that cousins is clean and the saints would of done due dilligence on him. collingwood realised that to probably have didak and cosuins along with heath shaw could of been a real bad mix.
if this is gaing momentum with richmond it must of been behind the secnes work that the club has carried out in conjuction with the afl, players asscoitation , and medical staff.i still belive that sheedy is somehow tied up in all this, doing the behind the scenes stuff, the club puts up a smokescreen by saying and doing nothing, then all of sudden bang they make their move.hence the reason why polak wasnt moved ages ago, the club didnt want to show its hand and waited untill other clubs basically dropped off.

So there's no rehabbed drug users? Ever heard of a sober alcoholic? He may always be a drug addict; that doesn't mean he's not clean. Addictions can be managed successfully.

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

Geez....I just logged on....I can't believe this is happening! But jeez, what do we have to lose....Cuz turns Deledio, Chimpy and Whitey into coke fiends, we make 2 Grand Finals in a row against Carl, they win the first by 4 points, we win the next by 1,....it'll be fun!
Seriously, I think our young core leaders have their heads too well screwed on to be influenced by Cuz...as long as he turns up to training and gets his regulation 28 touches, I'm in.
Oh yeah, and if the AFL really don't want Cuz playing, why let Richmond put Polak on the rookie list? The League has along history of ignoring precedents and making stuff up as they go.

hmm can they now did you read the post.ask any alcoholic about the time frame of overcoming no suppressing his addiction. many alcoholics manage to overcome or control the addiction. few hard core drug users ever overcome their addictions by this i mean stop useing.. look it up for yourself.
personally i dont need to ive seen to many close to me be ruined from the scourge.

and finally cousins is not clean imo he doesnt recognise he has a problem hes just toeing the line. you dont shave and wax the back sack and crack leading into a test if you have nothing to hide. not the first time ben has had something to hide either.run ben run .

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

at least when we pick up the papers in the morning it will be about richmond.
it even makes it worthwhile buying the AGE to see what Caro has to say
amazing what would be going on if Fox Footy channel was still going around
