Been to a good gig lately/Concerts [Merged]

Saw Neil Young and Crazy Horse last night at the Plenary last night and it was a transcendent experience, 3 hours of primal garage rock, with an acoustic interlude in the middle.

Highlights were the new song Walk Like a Giant and an extended sequence of older songs for the last hour of Cortez, Dangerbird, Barstool Blues, Prisoners of Rock and Roll, Opera Start, Hey Hey My My and Sedan Delivery, with an encore of Like a Hurricane.

Saw them on a cold, wet day for an outside 'Day on The Green' near Geelong. Despite the weather, Neil was awesome. Perhaps it was our (my brother-in-law and my) decision to stick to the red wine for the afternoon/evening, but we were basking in a warm glow by the time Crazy Horse graced the stage. We were soaked through, but I loved the grungy rock set over the gentler, ballady Neil Young that I saw in the sweltering heat at the Myer Music Bowl the week before Black Saturday. I am not sure if everyone there agreed and the interlude of Heart of Gold in the middle almost felt like an offering of some kind to the sponsor's (Gold 104) listeners!

Overall, a memorable gig on a dismal day.

Just watching a quartet of Joe Camilleri, Dazza Braithwaite, James Reyne and Ross Wilson on the Good Friday Appeal......*smile* I'm old. :hihi

31days til Ozzfest! Slipknot here I come!

Just found out Van Halen( with David Lee Roth) is touring Japan. Applying for time off work and trying to get tickets!

I took the family to the Deniliquin Blues and Roots festival over Easter. It was the first one ever and it was sensational.

We only did the Saturday but saw a number of great acts - Zac Brown Band, Tony Joe White, Jason Mraz, Bonnie Raitt, Newton Faulner and Chris Issac to name a few. Zac Brown Band were by far the highlight. My 10 year old son caught a guitar pick after their show surrounded by a sea of full grown rednecks.

The Sunday lineup had Steve Miller Band, Santana, Status Quo and Jimmy Cliff so I have no doubt would have been enjoyable but being easter Sunday and having three kids all under 11 we had an easter egg hunt to get to.

Should be good PJ. It's a shame Diamond Dave can't do the acrobats anymore.

Actually just found out Van Halen is doing a one off show in Sydney next Saturday headlining the Stone Music Festival!

Spewing. No additional shows.

The festival is actually based around the classic 1974 Aussie bikie movie Stone.

Diamond Dave actually lives in Japan now PJ.

David Lee Roth. What a *smile* rock star.

Had a great little jazz evening at the wonderfully throw-back Kelvin Club a week or so ago. Bob Sedergreen is a big man with a light touch - his fingers dance like butterflies over the piano keys. Gianni Marinucci on the trumpet, Mike Jordan on the drums (can he tell some stories), a fella whose name I can't remember on the double bass and the delightful, delicious, de-lovely Hetty Kate on vocals. Wilbur Wilde swingin' in the audience. Cool, man. Dig.

That's a spew. Sydney always wins out. It would be great to see them (even at this age ;D), but without Michael Anthony still doesn't look right to me.

Being a huge Van Halen and DLR fan for years i was temped to fork out the hard earned and go to Sydney for it but after the sound wave farce i have pretty much given up on them now.

UndergroundLOVERS blow the roof at The Corner on Saturday night launching thier new album. I was hoping it was going to be after a Tiger win but not to be. Still a wonderful gig..

Sabbath tonight!!!!!!!

My first childhood memory of SAbbath was a kid going to KFC in Preston(Melbourne's first ever KFC) in his HQ and inside there was a Vinyl jukebox and I asked to play Sabbath Bloody Sabbath on it.

No KFC's would have jukeboxes these days lol.

I lived on 2 albums in my childhood.Sabbath's Paranoid and Led Zep's II.

Banging my old black pearl Pearl drumkit to oblivion.

70's were the best for music.
