Been to a good gig lately/Concerts [Merged]

Re: Been to a good gig lately? [Merged]

Front row of Clairey Browne and the Banging Racketts was pretty special!
Wrong venue choice by the organisors - she should have been on the main stage.

Seen Mariah Carey last night with the missus....ordinary effort to say the least.
They're getting old Jukes (I can't believe U2 are releasing a new album.......give it up Bono!!)

How was the Hero song?

Agree, should have called it a day 15 years ago after Hutchence died. They were never the same band and tried to fill the frontman position several times.

AC/DC is about the only band I can think of who successfully continued to make music after losing their singer.

Genesis: Peter Gabriel - Phil Collins

Yeah she sang that song...she sings great live that's not the issue.
She came out late and only did like 5 or 6 songs geez!!
Cost like $40 per song per ticket lol.

Joy Division did ok after Ian Curtis but with a name change.

Saw Chisel at Bluesfest last year. They were bloody fantastic. The band seems well connected since the passing of Steve Prestwich. A young guy in there on drums now.

I swore I'd never go to a NY concert again after the last one I went to. I saw he was doing A Day on the Green and logged on ready to book tickets only to find it's not at the winery we usually go to. Not interested in a big concert venue so am considering going to Hill Winery. Wish it was at Rochford. Might just buy Psycadelic Pill instead. Mirrorball is one of the very few NY albums I don't have or have never heard.

The Hill is 15 minutes from home. Already have GA tickets for Crazy Horse. I saw NY at the Myer Music Bowl on that very hot night just before Black Saturday. Was a great show.

Saw First Aid Kit at the Forum on the 2nd of Jan. Very good show as well. The younger sister is far too talented for her age. Did a great Simon & Garfunkel cover to start their encore.

There is a Bon Scott 33rd anniversary tribute at Yarraville Live on the 9th of Feb.

Rusty(top bloke, top singer) from Electric Mary will be singing a number as will many other vocalists and an all studded(hopefully the drummer is up to it! :D )band.

Should be a top night.

No interest in Metallica then Evo?
not really. I didn't mind them around the masters of puppets time but wouldn't call myself a fan. You?

Not really but tossing up whether to go to Soundwave where they are headlining - few other bands playing that day that might be worth a look. Normally would say I'm too old for festivals but with Metallica playing I might be on the young side.

90s was the pinnacle decade for music in my opinion. So much quality variety and so many great bands.

On a side note, Melbourne Big Day Out on Saturday, am only really going for the Chili Peppers. Considering watching the Killers and Grinspoon but the pub until night time sounds a little more enticing.

Do yourself a favour and catch Band of Horses, Foals, Kingswood, Jagwar Ma. There's plenty of good stuff there, even for the old farts amongst us. Open your minds a little.
