panthera: black keys are awesome, they deliver a great live performance, just as good as their studio performances!
So... am I the only person going to see RATM in concert next year? I managed to get tickets (which sold out in 2 or 3 minutes apparently). The BDO lineup is just terrible, so I'm so glad I got RATM tickets. I don't want Bjork making a cent from me!!!

Just got 2 tickets to BDO.
Good to see Rage against the machine have been given extended time onstage due to the stuff up over ticketing and scalpers at Melb and Syd. They are getting around 80mins on stage, instead of the usual 45 apparently.

Sarah Blasko is hot and a legend to boot.
Also got myself a ticket to BDO...Sarah, Arcade Fire, Battles, LCD and Midnight Juggernauts ensured my attendance.
I'm seeing Paul Kelly at Queenscliff in November as well.

RATM and, to a far lesser extent, hilltop hoods are the only groups worth seeing at BDO
bragg and kelly are more suited to pub gigs like the corner hotels. i wouldn't pay $131 just to see them two (if they're the only artists you appreciate on the list).
bjork will just annoy the bejesus out of me. she has good videoclips, but that's all.
grinspoon are a solid rock act, but i saw them at BDO in '05 and the crowd didn't care. Disappointing.
arcade fire are gonna have quite a few fans there, good up-and-coming band i guess, but they need to ditch the female vocalist... she belongs on the same stage as bjork.
Very *smile*-weak lineup in '08 as opposed to previous years. Maybe they'll announce further acts to sway my opinion (i hope).

In your very humble opinion of course. Me, I'll be avoiding RATM (might take a peek, but I'm certainly not going to BDO for them), and I might take a look at Hilltop Hoods, but I'm there for other bands, which already justify the 130 asking price. And there's at least one more announcement to come (like there's been every other year), so don't get all up in arms about the so-called *smile* weak lineup just yet.

How do you figure out your opinion represents 99% of Australian BDO regulars when the concerts sold out in record time, more a matter of minutes than of days?
Everybody I've spoken to about it, albeit that's only 10 or so, is more of the opinion of skybeau.

But I hope you've got yourself a ticket in any case, they're selling out like Grand Final tickets with Richmond playing will...zoom-zooming mazda style...

Otis, they always add extra acts to the big day out after the first announcement.
They work out their headliners, a couple of overseas acts, and the supplementary aussie talent for the first announcement. They then usually add a group of international acts for the second. And, speaking from my group of friends who usually go to the BDO, 100% of us are happy with the line up. Sure it could do with another couple of rock acts to support the headliners, but for the first list, it's OK. Not great, but OK.
And Skybeau, if you haven't got tickets to see RATM at festival hall or haven't seen them live before, do yourself a favour and make time to see them at the BDO. They are mind bogglingly (is that even a word?) good live.
