Have fifth row seats at the Palais for Weds Wilco gig. Should be a cracker! They were fantastic last time at the Palace!

My leave pass is over...
Thursday night's Kaiser Chiefs gig was a wholee lot of fun - they played what you would expect, and they were very infectous onstage. Guitar came across harder (heavier) than the albums, probably for the best in a live set. Geez the guitarist Andrew White plays like Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath (maybe it's being left handed). Ricky Wlson crowd-surfed - too basd it was to the VIP area...

The Walkmen were the warm-up act. Personally, I'd find more warmth in a dead body.

Friday night was some Sean Lennon. Totally differnet gig. Tight musianship, mellow beat... If you liked his latest album (which I do) then guarantee you would like the show. Considering how little he tours, he ha great stage presence. Funny onstage banter between songs. Yoko is a lovely lady.

Ah, wish I'd caught them at the POW a few weeks back - tickets sold out before I could click my mouse! :(

Not quite the same as being there, but I can recommend the Kaisers' Enjoyment DVD - a massive doco (narrated by Bill Nighy no less) all the clips (except the first (and better) "...Riot" pillowfight one) and over an hour of live stuff, an hour or so of which is in DTS.

Is it just me or does Whitey have more than a little bit of the John Lennons about him, at least visually?

Ms Tantie.

Haha that's what my brother said.
We were on the mezzanine. Probably the best gig I ever went to.

Had to work pretty hard for that encore though!

Saw the Dave Matthews Band at Fenway Park in July... best gig and venue to see them at, and has been released this week as a live recording. 8)

That's pretty cool GR. Do you know who was on drums? Was it Carter Beauford?

Yeah, Carter was on drums, the man is an octopus! The usual band line up, but they did have a new guy (guest?) on trumpet.

There were about 35,000 people in the stadium, and plenty of pot! They played for about 3 hours, and mainly their newer material. :guitar

I would love to see the Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds acoustic show live one day. 8)

I'm envious, I love the way he plays. You're a lucky guy!

See above for the best gig 8)

Yeah the encore was good, starting with Dave doing Sister solo... and i was happy with 2 and a half hours in total. I was on the floor, 10 rows from the front of the stage left hand side.

Dave would be cool to hang out with and have a chat, would have been great to score a backstage pass and/or hang out and have a few drinks (or whatever else they do!) after the gig.

Xavier Rudd was good too, first time i have seen him live, will see if i can score a cd or 2 of his as well.

A Pink Floyd Concert from 1972 "Live at Pompeii" is playing now on Foxtel. I'd never heard/seen it before, outstanding.

I'm all over it Skybeau!! Can't wait!! >:D

As an aside, what are the best venues in Melb these days for live gigs?

Re: Been to a good gig lately? [Merged]

Best I've been to is The Forum, on Flinders Street...its awesome, I love it to pieces.

I also like the Northcote Social Club and the East Brunswick Club for smaller bands.

I haven't been to many other venues, to be honest...apparently the Corner isn't too bad either.
