Gonna see him on April 1st, Tiggy. Not sure of the venue. I reckon he's better as a pub act but I think he's playing a stage show. I'll have to go to the pub before and after. ;D

And fit the footy in as well?

The album Lang does with Chris Whitley is great. 'Dislocation Blues.

Does Lang do the vocals, Lefty?

I saw Chris Wilson at Williamstown today ;D He was great as usual, more than I can say for the feral kids let loose by their parents

He is definitely better in a pub, I said to my friends it felt really out of place, we should have been in a dark and dingy pub with a beer in our hands ;D A dreadful venue for a great bloke, but if it introduces other people to his music and puts food on his table why should I complain ;D

Oh and to top it off, the ultimate insult, Syd the seagull turned up and pranced around in front of the stage with a gaggle (?) of kids climbing all over him, Chris only had himself to blame for that :hihi :hihi

A bloody Melbourne supporter bought me the ticket. Heathen. Jeeez. Looks like I'll have to watch it on telly at the pub then head over to the gig at eight.

Beware of Melbourne supporters bearing gifts. At leas I know he won't try that trick in August. He'll be skiing.

I'm just thinking about him buying me that ticket. I reckon he's done it to spare me the pain of another miserable defeat. He feels sorry for me. AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I hope you smuggled in a flask, Tiggy. Syd was probably wasted. With Wilson, it's better if you're all drunk. ;D

Who is this group Arcade Fire ? There's a few people here at work raving about them. (Whenever I hear that from a number of people, I'm usually suspicious. They usually turn out to be duds imo.)

Who's heard them ?

Re: Been to a good gig lately? [Merged]

The ravers are spot on. Arcade Fire are awesome. Certainly far from duds...

Very orchestral sounding rock band. They've done two albums, Funeral in 2005 and Neon Bible earlier this year. Funeral is epic. Very sombre in content (as you'd expect from a title like Funeral) yet incredibly beautiful album. Neon Bible has a similar sound, but different subject matter and consequently lacks in some of the beauty that made Funeral such a brilliant album. Still very good though.

But yeah, they're great. If you're gonna get into them, start with Funeral.

Saw Chris Smither at the Brunswick festival last week.

Real good gig. Smither, usually an immaculate delta blues player, appears to have a left thumb injury and was restricted at times. Took off the guard towards the end of the gig because it was causing him to doing a few notes.

You won't see many better players than Chris Smither. Still has some dates across Australia. Brisbane tonight. WA next week.

The Lemonheads are playing two gigs at the Corner over Easter. I'm away and will miss the gig. Spewen.

Don't forget- The Lemonheads at the Corner. :guitar

Ok, thanks.

I've been given Neon Bible, so I've got things the wrong way 'round according to your advice but I cant be fussy when I'm getting it for free.

Quite different. Not sure if its my sort of thing, but will keep listening to it a few more times over. Quite often the stuff you're unsure of initially turns out to be stuff you end up loving. Bit like when I was an 8 year old having my first sip of beer I suppose.....

Caught Eric Burdon at the Prince last week, bloody amazing!

Legend.

Saw Wolfmother Thursday night. Good performance but they were way more fun to watch last year before they were big and the commercial radio crowd had never heard of them.

I watched them for a while at the Grand Prix. Thought they were ok.

Cool!! give us a report, and don't report on all the crap redneck bands that everybody else talks about in this topic. The topic is called "Been to a GOOD GIG lately?"... not "Been to a craphole pub to see a band that had one good hit in the 80s but now 3 of the original members died from overdoses so they've been replaced by 25 year old kids" 8)
