Went to see the Howling Bells play last night at the Corner. Supporting them was Vasco Era and the Dardanelles. They were all pretty good. Juanita from the Howling Bells had all the guys in the room transfixed! She's a stunner! And anyone missing Peter Garret's dance moves should check out the Dardanelles. The lead singer has the epileptic fit thing going on! :hihi

Triple J recorded that one Jexy and others. So you could probably go to www.triplej.net.abc and find it somewhere. That was the free one yeah?
Saw Martha Wainwright on Rock wiz the other day. Damn she is awesome live!

Have you guys ever heard of Dallas Green or Alexisonfire?

Heard of Alexisonfire. Not a massive hardcore fan...

Re: Been to a good gig lately? [Merged]

got my tix for the dropkick murphys, 27th of march at the palace. gonna be wild.

saw a quality band from QLD called the charlie parkers, very old skool sounding, think the strokes mixed with kings of leon. really good band.

Re: Been to a good gig lately? [Merged]

Yeah love the DM's. Have you heard Against Me Doolz? They're kinda similar and very cool.

Jexy, I'm not a hardcore fan at all either, at least not when the main vocals are screaming, but Dallas Green is really good on his own, does acoustic emo stuff mostly and I'm wondering whether to go with a mate a check Alexisonfire out when they come to Sydney. Probably give it a miss though.

Great music. The singer grates on me though.

Coming in May I think.
Out of interest Patsy, you a Ministry fan?

Re: Been to a good gig lately? [Merged]

Yeah exactly. If they'd ditch the screamer and let Green sing the whole time I'd be a huge fan. The music is really well done. Have you heard Green's solo stuff? Check out 'Day Old Hate' and 'Save Your Scissors' if you haven't.

Similar to Alefisonfire evo, love the riffing, love the message, can only listen to that type of 'singing' for short amounts of time.

Yeh thats fair enough Duckman.Just thought if you like Alexis you'd absolutely love Ministry.I'm not a big Death metal man myself either. But do like fast, wall of sound guitar.

Just reckon Ministry were the unheralded masters of that genre.havn't heard anything that has come close, before or since.

Saw them a few times live, ages ago now, both here and in the States.

freakin awesome.Probly the best gig I've ever been to,ever.Psalm 69 is probably my all time favourite album.

Saw Damien Rice at the Palais on Monday night, and it was one of the best shows i have ever been to, even though the venue was stinking hot!

Anyone seen The Cassanova's play around Melbourne.Been getting into them a bit lately.
They are okay but I find them a little boring. I'd much rather see Jaws with the Onyas.

Yeh,they are a bit 'vanilla'-mrs evo bought it home recently-was just getting into it a bit.i don't put in the effort to see live bands these days-family and all.

Used to go see the Onyas ages ago.

Was a big fan of frenzal romb, the Psycos and Hard ons(years ago)

Re: Been to a good gig lately? [Merged]

I know what you mean, I haven't been out to see bands for ages and don't get to very often (coincidentally last time was to see the Onyas at the old bar last year).

Re: Been to a good gig lately? [Merged]

went to the laneway festival yesterday, got dragged along 'cos a mate was working there, saw 3 very good acts. Dan Kelly solo was very good. But tell you what, if you like you music with grinding rhythyms and heavy, 2 bands to check out, Snowman, crap name but top band, tops, one of the vocalists is like a cross between Chongo from Danger Island and Stevie Wright. Also the Archie Bronson Outfit, really good, both bands really rock but are also pretty different and interesting.

Did you see Camera Obscura? I've heard that they're pretty average live...

I saw Chris Wilson at Williamstown today ;D He was great as usual, more than I can say for the feral kids let loose by their parents

Gonna see him on April 1st, Tiggy. Not sure of the venue. I reckon he's better as a pub act but I think he's playing a stage show. I'll have to go to the pub before and after. ;D
