Been to a good gig lately/Concerts [Merged]

Re: Been to a good gig lately?

Yeah I was disappointed to miss Muse this time around. Got a mate who reckons they were the highlight of the BDO.

Have you heard of Alexis On Fire Otis (or anyone else)? I have another mate who's an excellent young drummer that I jam with occasionally who's a massive Dallas Green fan and I promised him that if they ever came to Australia I'd go and see them with him. Well now they're coming and I have to keep my promise lol. Although Dallas does some really good acoustic stuff, as a band they're not really my cup of tea to be honest, what with all the screaming. :spin

Re: Been to a good gig lately?

Did Tool do any gigs around the BDO?

Anyone see them?

Re: Been to a good gig lately?

I see Paul Stanley is playin at the Palace in April

If anybody has Little Britian Tickets for sale let me know,my X is after 2

Re: Been to a good gig lately?

I was hurting all over after Little Britain Live last week.
Paid top dollar ($130) for tickets but worth it.
Dont think they will ever do anything like it again.

Bloody missus bought us tickets to Miss Saigon in April :'(
Managed to get out of scissor sisters last night but cant get out of this.

Re: Been to a good gig lately?

Went and saw the amazing CW Stoneking last night at the Spanish Club in Fitzroy. He was backed by the Primitive Horn Orchestra and the gig was exhilarating!

No-one plays this sort of music anywhere and the genuine excitement in the faces of the punters was a pleasure to see.

CW was also joined by a tap dancer on a couple of songs, just to add to the carniva atmosphere.

Ten bucks bloody well spent!!

And they had Coopers Pale on tap!

Tool toured 2 weeks ago evo, my mates went and saw them and the general feedback (as usual with Tool) was that they were awesome although their BDO set list was far better than their tour set list (which had more new stuff).

LOL Paul Stanley... I downloaded his album (being a huge KISS fan i have spent hundredsssssss of dollars on kiss memorabilia over the years and wasn't willing to blow any more). I must say this album is very 80s-like. Paul Stanley makes every song sound so cliche and ridiculously catchy, almost to the point of stupidity (although Paul knows very well that simple song lyrics and a great melody SELLS). The tickets are rather expensive. I still love KISS and think they're one of the greatest live shows on earth. *smile*, even Henry Rollins agrees with that!! :)

Who knows it may just be worth going to Pauls gig afterall, lol

Re: Been to a good gig lately?

Jeff Lang has the dirtiest guitar in Australia IMO. But I hate his voice. Just too light IMO. I should like the contrast but I don't. I always wished I could hear him with a better vocalist.

I saw a gig in Brunswick at the festival last year.

It was the Collard Greens and Gravy gig. Supposed to start at three. I got there at four. A complete botch. Turns out that the gig is held up because the Gravy guitarist has forgotten about the show and is interstate. Just so happens that Jeff Lang is in the audience waiting, hears about the problem and says "Would it be okay if I played guitar?"

Andrew Collard's voice is rich and deep. Smokey too. Harp is even better. A perfect match for that Lang guitar. Dream come tru for me and a total freak that it took place and that I heard it.

They've got together for another project. The only song I've heard is "Motherless Children" and guess what- Lang does the vocal. Pfffffttt.

Re: Been to a good gig lately?

The album Lang does with Chris Whitley is great. 'Dislocation Blues.

Kaiser Chiefs!

Yay! It must be concert day! :)

First I managed to get front row tickets for Pixies and Jarvis, now Kaiser Chiefs have been announced - Friday 23rd at the POW.

I'm happy me. :spin

Ms Tantie.
xox

Re: Kaiser Chiefs!

I might even join you there, Ms T...

When are the tickets on sale...and how much, do you know?

Re: Kaiser Chiefs!

Wickedly, cheers!

I didn't know their album was due out next weekend as well...looks like a JB HiFi trip for me on Saturday...

I think The Cops are an up-and-coming Aussie band...they had a song in the Hottest 100 recently. From memory they seem like a good band to support the Chiefs, so have no fear about that. But definitely not in the public eye just yet, so don't worry about not being sceney ;)

Re: Kaiser Chiefs!

Hey Skybeau

On a matter not related did you know Rage are showing the Hottest 100 this weekend.
They had 100-51 last night and top 50 tonight.

Re: Been to a good gig lately? [Merged]

No, I didn't know!!! Bugger...perhaps I'll tape the top 50 tonight, but sucks that I missed the first night...cheers for the tip mk...I woulda had no idea otherwise...

Anyways, I'm off to see Bertie Blackman tonight. And then the countdown begins...three days until Snow Patrol...

Re: Been to a good gig lately? [Merged]

Pixies reformed and are playing in Melbourne in April.

woohoo.

Re: Been to a good gig lately? [Merged]

Went to see the Howling Bells play last night at the Corner. Supporting them was Vasco Era and the Dardanelles. They were all pretty good. Juanita from the Howling Bells had all the guys in the room transfixed! She's a stunner! And anyone missing Peter Garret's dance moves should check out the Dardanelles. The lead singer has the epileptic fit thing going on! :hihi

Re: Been to a good gig lately? [Merged]

Sounds good Jexy. One of the few good live places left the Corner.

Anyone seen The Cassanova's play around Melbourne.Been getting into them a bit lately.

Re: Been to a good gig lately? [Merged]

Missed out on that gig...by the time I'd remembered it was on, it was 6:30 and there was no way I was gonna get in to the city on time...

But I saw Howling Bells the previous night, supporting Snow Patrol. Jexy's right, she is a stunner...very attractive...oh, and the music was good too... ;)

As for Snow Patrol...they were various shades of awesome. My god they're great live. I nearly died...figuratively speaking, of course...although I was dehydrated to buggery though...

And they're back here in September too...so buy a ticket. Or two and take a friend.

Re: Been to a good gig lately? [Merged]

Tomorrow 9am tickets go on sale for Nine Inch Nails, this will be the first time i'm gonna go see them at the Metro... if i can get a ticket that is!!

My ticket for Point Nepean Music Festival is in the mail too, look forward to seeing Ben Harper and Taj Mahal (and many others)...

But still, Eagles of Death Metal are next, one of the best new rock acts in a Foo-Fighters' mould.
