Personally I couldn't give a damn about any community awards. I can't remember the last time I ribbed someone at work because we had someone at our club that is working with some minority etc and they didn't. As long as we don't have players doing Fevola's or Milne's etc it's all pretty much a sideshow. The suspect the 70,000 tigers that turned up to the elimination final did so because they want to see Richmond win games and premierships, and not because they want the Tigers to win the Ms Congeniality Award among football clubs. But to each their own I guess.

Never been about "community awards" it's whether Bachar is a valuable member of the RFC, and he happens to be. Both on & off the field.

Richmond Football Club's primary focus is winning premierships, community leadership is just a minor bonus. If we had to trade both Jacko and Bachar to gain players that will take us to that premiership then so be it.

Agree,
We haven't waited 34 years for community awards.

So, we're agreed then. Bachar gets big bucks next contract. Coz the bad guys will be sniffin around.

To get the big bucks he will have to iron out the deficiencies in his game. i.e. his short passes and decision making under pressure. ( mind you he is not Robinson Crusoe in these areas )

Premiership winning teams are all about leadership. A mob called Geelong had a serious heap of footballing talent a generation ago, but not much leadership n lost four premierships. Same club with a serious heap of footballing talent plus a heap of leaders won three premierships a generation later and are still chasing more.

If you look really closely you might notice that footy clubs are also a " community ". Quality leaders are priceless in all walks of life.

The Geelong leaders you speak of are leaders on the field not in the community, Give us more on field leaders not community leaders, if they happen to be both that is an extra bonus.

Community leadership is more than a minor bonus. People are more likely to support RFC because of our commitment to all parts of the community. We didn't get 60K+ members this year just because we won a few games. I grant you that is a very big reason but many joined because they saw a club that cares for all walks of life.

Also all of Bachars family joined up that's about 50 memberships

Excellent news. I'm a huge Bachar fan. It also helps that he's quite possibly the best bloke I've ever met in football circles. A real positive influence to have around the club.

What a fantastic pick up this bloke has been.

Committed and reliable as they come.

At last years Cotchys Cubs Clinic my wife who was following my six year old around the various stations around punt rd oval and is not a footy person at all, could not stop singing his praises in relation to his attitude and persona around the kids.

To this day she still says he is the epitome of class.

Yep spot on. Bloke is all class.

Never met the bloke but I have watched him iron out his deficiencies year by year. Very consistent, assured player. Bit underrated IMO.

Great news.
